Happy Nigerian Independence Day! I'm kicking off #blackhistorymonth off with an all time Nigerian breakfast favourite - yam and egg sauce. In the video, I teach you how I cook, things you can do to add a twist, things you do NOT have to do and most importantly how to plate in a fine dining way. Watch the tutorial here: https://lnkd.in/efhHJpHQ I've got something coming up for busy professionals too next month in November and possibly something for Christmas - watch this space!

Cook with Dee reposted this
It's Nigerian independence day next Tuesday and I've got a Cook with Dee YouTube video coming out. Here's the link to my existing Youtube channel: https://lnkd.in/eDmW8Qwy - Subscribe for more! Anyway, these 3 photo signify my moods at times. Sometimes I go through all the motions - the smiles, the unhappiness and then back to smiling again. People say children born here have the location lottery because of the 'benefits' in the UK/West. But do you know what? Very few people talk about the burden or hardship 1st generation born children can face especially if things were not honky dory for parents growing up. People talk about the usual typical growing up on the Council estate etc etc. Valid and personal to them and a story I can relate to. But, I wouldn’t say I’ve quite ‘made it out’ yet. On reflection, I can think about the many obstacles I have faced and things I still contend with today. Sometimes, I think about how I have been made to feel like I have short changed myself despite having to work harder than the average person. It’s interesting and sometimes it’s frustrating as I strive to break certain cycles and absolutely not reproduce what I have experienced. You can’t rely on people around you to help, understand or support. You cannot rely on the manager who you think should relate to you to assist you. You can’t rely on connections either. Sometimes the feeling of being stuck can be overwhelming. But just like muddy swamp, sometimes there may be a hand to help pull you out. So perhaps being born here, being a product of my circumstances - some beyond my control or what I would have asked for if I had the chance to pick, is motivation enough to give myself a life I can choose and deserve. So ahead of 1st October, I may be British but I can never forget that I am Nigerian. I’m always reminded of the divide, of my tough upbringing and how I am not like a lot of my counterparts, though similar in some respect. #Immigration #BlackBritish #African #Business #Entrepreneur #Motivation #CouncilEstate #TheTrenches #TheGhetto #NigerianIndependenceDay

Growing up in a large family, I always learnt to cater for about 6-7 mouths at the very least plus x2 portions each, hence the 1.5kg of meat. And Asda were doing a deal: x2 packs for £8 so why not? Here’s my Homemade Burger recipe - I made this as a treat last Sunday and it went down well. McDonald’s, Burger King and even Five Guy’s who?! Other simple tips: - mould the patties with your hands - shallow fry the meat 2-3 minutes on either side - if you’re using chicken breast, you don’t need to use breadcrumbs or egg in the mix - you can also choose to freeze the raw burger patties and wrap them well in cling film. Note: you may wish to pause certain parts of the video to get the detail/tips for certain steps due to the speed. As working professionals- it’s good to get creative and try something new whilst saving £. Happy Saturday Everyone! Some months ago, some people voted in a poll I did as I was trying to find out the challenges people face as professionals when cooking dishes. In summary, people did not have the time to cook, found their dishes boring whilst some lacked some culinary skills. As a starting point, I invite you to watch my YouTube tutorial on making a chicken roast dinner here: https://lnkd.in/eqQZX3Nh. I focus on how how to marinate your chicken and how to use aromatics for good flavour and taste. It's not hard to make and I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you do make it. You'll find a list of ingredients, equipment needed in the bio and tips and hacks in the video - do check it out! Hi All! Do you have 2 minutes to spare to answer this poll? Thank you!
Hi Everyone and budding foodies, It has been a while since I posted. I have a question for working professionals and for anyone who actually likes to eat or cook. These days a lot of people do hybrid working so there's the benefit of working from home and working in the office so sometimes lunch can be a hit and miss sometimes! Would appreciate some engagement here. Feel free to leave a comment if none of the options suit you. Thanks!

Hi Everyone, It's my first post to say hello and thanks for following my page on here! Happy Pancake Day! Let's cook off this page with a pancake focused plate. The plate contains the following: mini pancakes dusted with icing sugar, a lychee and nectarine sauce, seasoned duck skin, homemade honeycomb (followed this recipe: https://lnkd.in/eccBBzNy) and a duck and dill croquette! The brief? Fine dining, fruits, duck and textures. Will you be making pancakes today or this week or do you prefer to order them as a dessert? Either way, why not check out an easy recipe on BBC Good Food here: https://lnkd.in/eTVNhgR ? Here's a tip from me: for thicker, fuller pancakes, add more plain flour and baking powder! #cookingathome #cookingtips #pancakes #recipes #recipeshare #pancakeday
