How beautiful is this?! We spent the day with our label printers in Leicester - the level of craftsmanship on display was impressive. This is one of the foil tools, which is heated to 125°C, before stamping foil onto our luxurious bottle labels. It's made from solid copper. I love visiting the Natural History Museum in London. Our eldest loves the dinosaur section, but for me it was fantastic to see two of our clients showcasing the sustainability credentials of their products in the gift shop - the only two spirits you can purchase there!!! If you’re looking for an organisation that has sustainability in its heart and soul and embodies it in everything they do, then look no further than Cooper King Distillery.   Christopher Jaume was our guest speaker at this month’s Yorkshire Eco Business Network session, and he blew us away with their story. Inspired by the damage to the planet he and his wife witnessed while travelling, Chris and the team set up a gin and whisky distillery in Yorkshire. They have produced international award-winning carbon negative gins and a net zero energy whisky.   If you’re wondering how genuine these sustainable claims are, check out just some of the things they’ve done so far:   ➡️Locally sourced ingredients (e/g/ 100% Yorkshire wheat) ➡️Light-weight bottles (-65% less carbon footprint than average) ➡️Zero waste to landfill ➡️The UK's first gin refill scheme ➡️Growing some of their own botanicals, including lemongrass, basil and honey ➡️A distillation process which uses mush less water and energy than traditional methods ➡️Planting a square meter of Yorkshire woodland for every gin bottle sold ➡️100% green electricity from day one ➡️Partnership with Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust to regenerate nature and sponsor their apprenticeship scheme   …and this is just a few examples. Big thanks to OurWhisky Foundation for the opportunity to contribute a very special and rare bottle of Cooper King Single Malt Whisky to the Demeter Collection whisky auction, which runs until 8 April 2024 at whiskyauctioneer.com. Bottle 173 of 173 from cask #1 was distilled in 2019, matured in a Tasmanian Apera cask and finished in a Pedro Ximénez Sherry cask. Notes include black tea, poached pear and strawberry bonbon on the nose, followed on the palate by chocolate-coated coffee beans, ginger, treacle and cream soda. The lot also includes a VIP tour for two with myself, plus a private masterclass including cask samples never before tasted by the public. The visit also includes a two-night stay with breakfast in the distillery’s on-site 5*-rated AirBnB.
