That's a wrap for the 2024 DaVita International Walkabout Challenge!   Every September, DaVita International teammates from all corners of the globe walk, run, climb and dance to support DaVita Kidney Care's charity Bridge of Life.   👣 This year we had an outstanding 9,700 teammates participate in the Challenge - that's more than half of our total teammate base.   🌏We walked 700,000km collectively, which is the equivalent of 15 laps around the Earth.   🕺And, most importantly, we embraced our Core Value of FUN and strengthened our connections with one another.     Congratulations to everyone who took part and we can't wait to see you next year! 

Last week, I visited two of our DaVita Kidney Care clinics in Poland. What an experience! First, we visited the clinic at Mangalia. This clinic participates actively in clinical trials, advancing #science on behalf of their patients. But what they were most proud of--and something we can all get behind--is their commitment to serving Ukrainian refugees. At one point, patients fleeing the war made up 25% of their patients. That is #service on behalf of humanity! From there, we headed to the Kasprzaka clinic. This clinic has gone through amazing transformation. They recently opened an outpatient chronic kidney disease office to reduce the burden of CKD in the community. They shared their huddle board with me, where the team meets everyday to discuss patient needs, safety and clinical quality. This clinic exemplifies a commitment to safety, patient-centeredness and continuous process improvement. Along the way, I met a recent nursing grad who came to the clinic temporarily right out of nursing school. There, she found her purpose and her team at the dialysis center. She has brought youthful enthusiasm to the care of her patients and is a welcome addition to the nursing force--and her temporary stay has now extended 2+ years. And, I was introduced to their innovations around kidney #transplantation, infectious disease control (>85% COVID vaccination rates!), and helping their patients travel around Europe while still maintaining kidney health. Special thanks to deputy CMO Marta Serwanska-Swietek for showing me around. And to Szymon Brzosko for leading the clinical efforts at our 65 clinics throughout Poland. I am so grateful for their leadership and commitment to patients. And, I am energized to take what I learned and share with others across the DaVita Village.

Today, DaVita enterered into an agreement to expand its operations in Brazil and Colombia, and enter Chile and Ecuador. Upon completion it would make DaVita the largest dialysis services provider in Latin America. "As we welcome thousands of dedicated caregivers to DaVita, we will continue our strategy of combining our global clinical expertise with strong investment in our local teams to deliver a sustainable and valuable contribution to the healthcare communities we serve," said Robert Lang, President of DaVita International.
