I had the privilege of attending the Merseyside Women of the Year annual Leaders Lunch today, where I heard Gina Earnshaw speak passionately about the Zoe’s place campaign. She shared that, due to lack of funding, Zoe's Place Baby Hospice, Liverpool would be forced to close at the end of the year. However, the amazing team has refused to give up. Instead, they’re fighting to keep the hospice open. Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice needs to raise £6.4 million to secure a new home in Liverpool, as their current lease is up and the land is being sold. Due to planning delays and spiraling building costs, time has run out, and they are in urgent need of support. Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice specialises in providing care for early-years children with life-limiting, life-threatening, or profound disabilities. Their incredible nurse-led team helps children enjoy everyday moments, providing essential care and support to their families, and offering compassionate end-of-life care when needed. So far, they’ve raised £1.7 million but need to raise a further £5 million by the end of October 2024. Local people and businesses have generously contributed, but they need everyone’s help to secure the future of this vital service in our community. Without these funds, Zoe’s Place will be forced to close after 30 years of offering vital support to families, leaving a huge gap in the care for our most vulnerable children. It would be a devastating loss to the Liverpool area. Another fantastic session with the #Accelerator2024 cohort yesterday 🙌 Nopadon Wongpakdee led an great interactive day exploring all things JTBD, experimentation with language-market fit and conducting customer interviews to better understand your customers. Some key takeaways from the session include: 💫 Avoid vague language - be clear on who you are, what you do, and what benefit you offer to your customers. ⚡ Check your "now you can" - does your messaging tell your customers what they can do now they use your product? 💡 Most importantly, make sure you understand your customers/potential customers and what their anxieties are as early as possible. Another Monday, another brilliant Baltic Ventures masterclass session delivered by growth and marketing ninja (my word, not his) Nopadon Wongpakdee! Incredibly impactful, practical and interactive sessions with our cohort of 11 covering all things JTBD, the importance of experimenting with language-market fit and customer interviews. Day 1 at the Sifted Summit did not disappoint! Great to finally meet the force that is Emma Jarvis and the Baltic Ventures cohort who brought Liverpool to London 💥 I joined Alma Angels for their office hours for female founders which was quite a sight! 100 founders and 50 Almas 🎉 Looking forward to heading back tomorrow to talk all things investing on the main stage at 11.20am ⌛

September has been a crazy month, and the start of exciting times ahead! Here are some of the highlights: The kids went back to school, brat summer is over 👋🏼 Baltic Ventures Accelerator kicked off 🙌 So excited to join the Baltic Ventures cohort. It’s been an intense start, being surrounded by a cohort of inspiring founders, along with the support of world-class mentors, with masterclasses, expert coaching, and lots of learning. Launched the Dearbump App 📲 Announced the launch on stage at Liverpool Slush’d in front of many people including my 9 year old who looked super proud 🥹. The app is designed to transform maternal healthcare, providing trusted support for expecting parents. Opened Our Seed Round 📈 With the momentum from Baltic Ventures, we’ve officially opened the Dearbump seed round! There’s so much opportunity ahead to scale and create lasting impact, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with like minded investors who are excited to be part of this journey. Featured in Sifted, Forbes, Femtech Insider, and More.. 📰 Our journey and impact have been highlighted in some fantastic publications this month, which has been such an honor. Innovate UK Movement 📢 September also saw the Innovate UK movement, which began with a LinkedIn post and grew into a larger movement. Within 4 days, it made its way to Parliament, ensuring the £2 million in funding to support more female founders. This was truly inspiring and reminded me how powerful our collective voices can be. What’s next? 👇 Tomorrow i’m heading to London for Sifted Summit. As part of the baltic ventures accelerator I’ll also be in Helsinki for Slush 2024. Can’t wait to connect with even more founders, investors, and change makers across the globe. September has been packed with milestones, incredible growth, and so much learning.
