We explored the vital role of Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) in promoting transparency and sustainability within the composites sector. I'm pleased to announce that I recently graduated from the Field Skills Programme, hosted by Natural History Society of Northumbria. This has been an invaluable experience in finding and identifying species local to Upper Teesdale, the North Pennines and Northumberland. One of my highlights from these past few months is the unique interest in alpine plants that I have developed, not forgetting the surprise appearance of a crayfish and some extremely unpredictable weather. A big thank you to James C. and the rest of the NHSN team for being so welcoming and knowledgeable. I hope to continue my learning with you in the future!

Her talk, "Plastic Recycling Complexities: An LCA Consultant's View," explored the environmental impacts, data challenges, and opportunities in this space. 🔍 Key Highlights: - Challenges: Accessing reliable data for various recycling processes, especially with novel technologies that are often confidential, can complicate Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs). - Gaps in Support: There’s a disconnect between recycling technology developers and end users, making data accessibility and transparency critical for accurate environmental assessments. - What Works: Tools like openLCA and ISO standards help create consistency, but the lack of transparency in emerging technologies can limit our ability to fully assess environmental impacts.
