Join us for our FREE Wellbeing Event for Dementia Carers in Scarborough! In partnership with Dementia Forward, we are hosting a free event on Wednesday, 16th October for anyone caring for someone with dementia. The event, which runs from 10:00am to 2:30pm, will be held at St Catherine’s Hospice, offering carers a day of information, advice, and relaxation, through a series of workshops, expert talks, and wellbeing activities. The day starts with a Q&A session with Irene Jervis from Dementia Forward, followed by tips on effective communication and self-advocacy from Duncan Lewis MA, Communication Trainer, self-care strategies from Carers Plus Yorkshire, and Simon Starling from Happy Futures Support Specialists Ltd, providing advice on managing emotions while caring for someone with dementia. A complimentary lunch will be provided by our generous sponsors who are: Pinkney Grunwells Lawyers LLP, Alex Trousdale Ear Care, Home Instead (Domiciliary Care Provider), Tina Steele Financial Advisor, Happy Futures Support Specialists Ltd & Sam Noble, Eyecare. These organisations will be available during the lunch break to provide information about their services. Additionally, we are also able to offer participants the opportunity to participate in a relaxation/wellbeing session and take home a pamper pack at the end of the day. We are excited to bring you news of our 2nd Annual U&ME Conference for Young Onset Dementia. 'Creating Hope' will be held on October 24th (National Young Onset Dementia Awareness Day #YODA) at Bowcliffe Hall in Wetherby. We are looking for a part-time Dementia Activities Support Worker in the York area, to support people with dementia to engage in activities at our day services. We are also looking for a Dementia Support Advisor to work 21 hours per week in Whitby and the surrounding area, supporting people with dementia and providing advice, information and practical and emotional support.
