Breastfeeding provides countless benefits for both mother and child, and it's crucial that we create environments—whether at home, work, or in the community—that encourage and support this natural and healthy practice. This month let's take the time to honor and advocate for the resources, education, and support that empower families in their choices. Together, we can foster a world where every parent feels confident and supported in their breastfeeding journey. This year's theme, "Hepatitis Can't Wait," reminds us that the time to act is now.  Hepatitis affects over 325 million people worldwide, with many unaware of their condition. Early detection and treatment are crucial in combating this silent epidemic. At Discover International, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote health and wellness. Here are a few steps you can take to join the fight against Hepatitis: ✅ Get Tested: Early diagnosis can save lives. If you haven't been tested, consider scheduling an appointment with your healthcare provider. ✅ Get Vaccinated: Vaccines are available for Hepatitis A and B. Protect yourself and your loved ones by getting vaccinated. ✅ Spread the Word: Share information about Hepatitis with your network. Awareness is the first step towards prevention and treatment. ✅ Support Organizations: Consider donating to or volunteering with organizations dedicated to Hepatitis research, education, and support. There has been talk for some time of the potential for GPL-1 drugs like Ozempic and Wegovy to be useful in treating a multitude of other chronic conditions. Included are reports of unexpected pregnancies among women on GLP-1 treatment. As a result researchers have pondered as to the possible effects of GLP-1 drugs on fertility. Biopharma Dive detail an upcoming study designed to establish whether GLP-1 drugs specifically can help women with hormonal disorders and fertility. https://lnkd.in/eR7_FN4E

🧠💜 June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month! 💜🧠   At Discover International, we are committed to raising awareness about Alzheimer's disease and other dementias that affect millions of people worldwide, as well as brain cancer, which poses a serious threat to brain health. This month, we join the global movement to support those impacted and to advocate for more research and resources to combat these devastating conditions.   Did you know? 🔹 Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60-80% of cases. 🔹 More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and by 2050, this number is projected to rise to nearly 13 million. 🔹 Alzheimer's is not a normal part of aging; it’s a progressive brain disease that leads to memory loss, cognitive decline, and eventually, loss of ability to carry out simple tasks. 🔹 Brain cancer is a malignant growth in the brain that can disrupt normal brain function and lead to severe neurological issues. 🔹 Glioblastoma is the most aggressive form of brain cancer, with approximately 14,000 new cases diagnosed each year in the United States.   Join us in spreading awareness and making a difference. Together, we can support those affected by Alzheimer’s and brain cancer, and work towards a future without these diseases.   #EndAlz #BrainCancerAwareness #AlzheimersAwareness #BrainHealth #AlzheimersAndBrainAwarenessMonth #DiscoverInternationalCares

Today, we join the nation in commemorating Juneteenth, a day that marks the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and celebrates the rich heritage and contributions of African American communities across the United States. This significant day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward equality, justice, and unity.   What is Juneteenth? On June 19, 1865, Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, with the news that the Civil War had ended and that all enslaved individuals were free—over two years after President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation. Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, has since become a time to reflect on the struggles, achievements, and cultural legacy of Black Americans.   Why We Celebrate: At Discover International, we believe in the power of diversity, inclusion, and equity. Juneteenth is not only a celebration of freedom but also an opportunity to acknowledge the resilience, creativity, and contributions of all cultures throughout history and in our present communities.   #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #EmancipationDay #DiversityAndInclusion #DiscoverInternationalCares

Moderna cancer vaccine poised to transform the Melanoma landscape. Not long after reporting significant losses for 2023 (-$4.7Billion) and Q1 2024 (-1.2Billion) due to the fall in demand for its Covid-19 Spikevax vaccine, Moderna were presenting some altogether different news at ASCO2024. At the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) conference Moderna and Merck released more positive Phase II three-year data on their experimental cancer vaccine, given to patients with the most deadly form of skin cancer in combination with the therapy Keytruda. Among new data, nearly 75% of patients who took the combination were alive without any signs or symptoms of their cancer returning at the 2½-year mark. That compares with 55.6% of patients who got Keytruda alone. The overall survival rate of patients who took the vaccine in combination with Keytruda was 96% after 2½ years. That compares with 90.2% among those who took Keytruda alone. As the companies previously announced, patients with severe forms of the cancer, known as melanoma, who received the combination were 49% less likely to die or have their cancer return than those who took Keytruda alone after roughly three years. The combination also slashed the risk of melanoma spreading to other parts of the body, or death, by 62%. https://lnkd.in/erRJUASw

A British toddler has had her hearing restored after becoming the first person in the world to take part in a pioneering gene therapy trial with Regeneron, in a development that doctors say marks a new era in treating deafness. An incredible breakthrough from Regeneron and the original Decibel Therapeutics team, whom Regeneron acquired in August 2023. Opal Sandy was born unable to hear anything due to auditory neuropathy, a condition that disrupts nerve impulses travelling from the inner ear to the brain and can be caused by a faulty gene. After receiving an infusion containing a working copy of the gene during groundbreaking surgery that took just 16 minutes, the 18-month-old can hear almost perfectly and enjoys playing with toy drums. Watch a heart warming video from Sky News with Opal and her parents. #regeneron #decibeltherapeutics #healthimpact #genetherapy https://lnkd.in/edyQq3ns
