    🎧Your personalised DJ: GenAI meets recommender systems🎶 As a #Spotify user for over a decade, I’ve witnessed the platform evolve, but their recent #AI DJ feature has taken personalisation to the next level! Released about a year ago, AI DJ combines Spotify’s powerful recommendation algorithms with generative AI to provide a seamless, personalised music experience. I’ve only started using it recently, and now 25% of my music comes directly from AI DJ! But how does this DJ know what songs to recommend? The backbone is the same that has been driving Spotify for a long time. Most #recommendation systems, like Spotify’s, rely on a blend of the following AI/ML techniques: 📌Item-based filtering focuses on user actions—searches, ratings, and listening history. 📌Content-based filtering uses song features like energy, danceability, and mood (valence) to recommend tracks with similar qualities. 📌 Collaborative filtering: Leverages similarities between user preferences and song metadata to identify song clusters. A strong recommendation engine uses a combination of these. Spotify’s AI DJ adds a layer of generative AI-based commentary, creating a more engaging, real DJ-like seamless #experience! Of course, none of this would be possible without the massive amounts of metadata and commentary that Spotify stores on songs. I like AI DJ so far, but the feature I most use is #Audiobooks (more to come). And no, I don't want it replacing any of the human DJs.     ✨ How an ancient famous quote is the basis for AI ✨ #Mathematics is the language in which God has written the Universe. Any guesses on who said this? Leave a comment below. As a child, I heard this phrase from my dad quite often. It wasn't until I started learning computer engineering that it became clearer. Today, embeddings (word, image, vector) have become a common buzzword that drive a lot of #NLP & #artificialintelligence. I’ve been diving deeper into their significance. So what exactly are these mysterious embeddings and how do they relate to vectors? 🔍 Vector as we know is an object with both magnitude (length) and direction. Vector embeddings take this concept a step further. They are numerical representations of data points that help express different types of information, including words or images. The idea probably dates back to 1950, when word embeddings were conceived by linguists attempting to use feature representations to quantify similarity (#semanticdifferentials). Fast forward to now, and we see this concept forming the backbone of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The easiest and most efficient approach for machines to comprehend language, emotions, syntax, and structure is to translate them into numbers. This is where embeddings come into play, bridging the gap between raw data and machine comprehension. Embeddings help represent words as vectors in a #multidimensional space, where the distance and direction between vectors reflect the #similarity and #relationships among the corresponding words. The 3d chart for instance is what you would get if you plotted few words across three dimensions. Embeddings are the language for machines to understand ours 🌍.
