About us

About us Dods Training designs and delivers professional development interventions that improve your skills, knowledge and know-how. We work with experts from across a wide range of fields to produce our innovative development programmes, including former government ministers, MPs, senior civil servants, diplomats and subject matter experts. Dods Training was founded in 1997, as Westminster Explained, due to demand through our sister company, The House Magazine, for training workshops on the inner workings of Parliament and Government. Since then, we have expanded our product range and have established a reputation as a leading provider of learning and development on legislation, governance, policy making and connected areas. Our experience means we are very well placed to design interventions that help you operate in today’s policy and political landscape. Director, Dods Training | Author of The Mind of the Minister

📢Some exciting book news... I'm very pleased to be able share the cover of my new (and first) book The Mind of the Minister: Restoring trust between ministers and civil servants. This critical relationship has reached a low point in recent years and the book draws on interviews with former government ministers and Permanent Secretaries to provide expert guidance and recommendations for how things can improve. If you are interested in how the minister-civil servant partnership can recover (and perhaps even thrive), or just what I think about it, its available to preorder here: https://amzn.to/489HJYK Biteback Publishing #publishingnews #civilservice #government #workplacerelations #leadership

One of our associates at Dods Training, Katie Driver delivered a session as part of the Dods Events Diversity & Inclusion Women into Leadership conference yesterday. Any of our clients who have worked with Katie or had training delivered by her, will know the value this session would have added to those attending. Thank you Katie for delivering your session on Unleashing Your Quiet Power.

Putting Thinking First | Helping leaders working for good to make a difference the quiet way | Thoughtful coaching, training & facilitation | Thinking Environment

Are you looking forward to Women into Leadership tomorrow, but also feeling a bit nervous about all the people and noise? Me too - and I'm one of the speakers! Here are some things I've found helpful over the years at these kinds of events: ❤️ take heart from the fact that you won't be the only nervous person there. Look out for someone else who looks uncertain too and give them a smile: they'll almost certainly be delighted to feel a little less alone. If you're feeling brave, go up and say hello and compare notes on how nervous you both are. 📚 have a think on your journey there about what you've seen or done recently (books, films, podcasts, hobbies, holidays, volunteering...). That way, you can ask someone else what they're into and be ready with something to talk about when they ask you in return. 🙂 go with the hope that you'll meet one or two other people you might like to have a further conversation with. Let go of thinking you need to 'work the room' or gather up a fistful of new contacts. And if you do meet someone interesting, make the effort worthwhile: take her details and fix a virtual coffee afterwards. 🔇 know it's absolutely fine to hang back at the edges of the room or in a quieter spot if you need to for a little while. There will be a lot coming your way through the day and you know best how to marshall your energy. I'm happy to be a friendly face or someone to reach out to if you want - I'll be staying for lunch after I've led my breakout session on Unleashing Your Quiet Power. Pic below so you can see more clearly what I look like! Enjoy your day! #Womenintoleadership #WiL #quiet

Yesterday Dods Events Diversity & Inclusion hosted their annual Women into Leadership conference in London. The conference offered hands-on advice and coaching on how to further develop your career. The event was a huge success, offering a wide range of speakers and taster sessions throughout the day. Two of the Dods Training team went along to the event to support our D&I colleagues - Celia Pérez Simone Douglas-Knights. If you'd like more information our our D&I and training offering, then do get in touch.
