Working with Businesses to Raise Awareness of Domestic Abuse

About us

Domestic Abuse Education was founded by Sharon Livermore MBE, a Domestic Abuse Survivor and present-day Campaigner; she uses her lived experience, and knowledge to educate businesses through a variety of training/education options. The Domestic Abuse Education mission is simple: To educate and train businesses across the UK on what domestic abuse is and the true difference they can make to each of their employees, who may currently, or in the future, experience domestic abuse; whilst ensuring every business has a Domestic Abuse Policy in place. Why? Work is often the only safe space where victims are away from their perpetrator, and therefore the only place where they can access the support they need to take the first steps to an abuse-free life. Sharon Livermore is the creator of “Sharon’s Policy”; a FREE template Domestic Abuse Policy, legally reviewed by Hogan Lovells & written in collaboration with the Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse, the Domestic Abuse Alliance and HR Dept. The policy comes with its own set of guidance notes and offers businesses of every size, in every sector, a starting point on their journey to supporting their employee’s. What Domestic Abuse Education can offer your business: ✅A CPD-accredited training course on Domestic Abuse Awareness & Supporting in the Workplace. ✅Lunch & Learn sessions. ✅Guest speaker or panellist at your event. ✅Video or podcast creation. ✅Bespoke packages; created to suit the needs of your organisation. ✅Sharon’s Policy; a FREE template Domestic Abuse Policy. ✅Advice on how to best embed a policy which works for your business, ensuring the message continues to be heard. All of our sessions are fully inclusive of all gender identities, and cover how to Recognise, Respond & Refer victim/survivors to support.

  • 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐆𝐌💜 February 6th marks the International Day of Zero Tolerance for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), a day to amplify efforts toward the global elimination of this harmful practice. FGM is a violation of human rights that affects over 200 million girls and women worldwide, causing severe physical, psychological, and social harm. Despite progress, an estimated 4.4 million girls are at risk this year—a staggering 12,000 each day. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: • FGM is not confined to specific regions; it persists globally, including in immigrant communities in Western Europe, North America, and beyond. • The practice perpetuates inequality and deprives girls and women of their rights to health, education, and safety. • Achieving the goal of eliminating FGM by 2030 requires survivor-led movements, community engagement, and targeted investments. 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩: • Promote education and awareness to challenge harmful gender and social norms. • Support survivor-led initiatives that advocate for change and provide essential services. • Foster discussions about gender equality, human rights, and the impact of FGM. This year's theme, Her Voice. Her Future. underscores the importance of investing in survivor-led movements to lead the change. Let's amplify their voices and take collective action to end FGM. Join us in supporting this global movement. Together, we can ensure that every girl has the right to health, safety, and equality. At Domestic Abuse Education, we stand in solidarity with this campaign and its message: #ItsNotOk. 💬 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬: For too long, conversations about sexual abuse and violence have been underrepresented. This week offers a platform to: • Highlight the incredible work of organisations and support services. • Bring hidden issues into the spotlight. • Encourage healthy, open discussions about a subject that impacts so many. 💜𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝: • Host or attend events—online or in person. • Join the conversation on social media using #ItsNotOk. • Share resources or campaigns from organisations you admire. • Reach out to local sexual violence organisations to explore ways to support their efforts. • Sharon's Story: A Mission to Stop Domestic Abuse "In 2015, I came extremely close to becoming part of a statistic; On average, one woman is killed every five days by an abusive partner or ex. Fortunately, fate was on my side, and I recognise how lucky I am to still have a voice, which I now use as a force for good to educate and empower others." In 2023, Sharon Livermore MBE launched Domestic Abuse Education, driven by the urgent need to support businesses in understanding and addressing domestic abuse. Her mission is clear: ✅ Educate businesses about domestic abuse and its impact. ✅ Empower employees to seek help and support. ✅ Ensure every workplace has a Domestic Abuse Policy in place. For many, work may be the only place of refuge—but even that isn't always safe. Research shows that their abusers harass 75% of employed victims whilst at work. Together, we can change this. Watch Sharon's powerful story here: https://ow.ly/Zo0L50UoZTB 💜 Let's work together to stop abuse. #DomesticAbuseEducation #SharonLivermore #SupportSurvivors #SafeWorkplaces #EndDomesticAbuse #EmpowerThroughEducation

  • Sharon Livermore MBE visited River Island's Head Office today to film awareness videos alongside Joanne Earle, highlighting domestic abuse and the support available to their employees 🎥 Our collaboration with River Island has been ongoing for over a year, during which the Wellbeing Team and Mental Health Ally's have successfully completed our CPD-accredited course. We strive to build strong partnerships with our clients to ensure the best outcomes for employees, providing access to education and support. Given River Island’s nationwide presence, our usual training sessions were not the most practical option for their retail stores. Instead, we determined that video content would be the most effective way to deliver this vital information 🛍️ We are proud to partner with River Island and be part of their employee wellbeing programme 💜 #DomesticAbuseAwareness #VideoShoot #EmployeeWellbeing
