Did you know that the depletion of the ozone layer is still a pressing issue affecting our climate? In the mid-1970s, scientists found that certain human-made chemicals were depleting the stratospheric ozone layer, which in turn harms the health of living beings, and to agriculture and ecosystems (National Georgraphic, 2019). In 1985, worldwide governments adopted the Vienna Convention to address ozone depletion (National Georgraphic, 2019). Thanks to widespread adherence to the protocol, global levels of ozone-depleting substances are now decreasing. However, we are not yet in the clear. As we face these challenges; innovative, interactive, and playful spaces offer a unique opportunity to combat climate change and protect the environment. Imagine outdoor spaces that not only offer a place for play but also actively contribute to the fight against climate change. You may have come across one of these playful bins, possibly during your childhood. But have you ever stopped to think why their creation is so genius? Playful bins are designed to engage users in a fun and interactive way, and can be a powerful tool in encouraging sustainable practices. By not littering, we are actively helping to protect the ozone layer by reducing the risk of harmful chemicals, like those from discarded products, which can contribute to ozone depletion. One way that Dream Networks is actively contributing to the fight against climate change, is by using sustainable and recycled materials in our play spaces. For example, using reusable and non-toxic tyres to create an innovative and playful space for children to play. At Crowcroft Primary School in Manchester, we've turned an unused area into a vibrant, natural and inclusive play space! 🌳✨ Our partnership with Tony Gee and Partners involved over 30 children in co-design workshops, where they shared their ideas for a play space that would encourage creativity, exploration, and connection with nature. The school's students, aged 5-11, had a vision for a space where they could connect with nature, learn outside, and have endless fun. Through co-design workshops, the children became active participants in the design process, sharing their ideas, making models on Tinkercad Education and dreams for their new play space. The play space was built with 100% natural and reused materials 💪 , and volunteers and local builders. Consequently, the space has been regenerated and 100s of lives have been transformed less than 10,000 GBP This play space is a testament to the power of collaboration, creativity, and the positive impact we can make on our communities when we come together. #Play4all #Communityengagement #regenerativedesign #STEM #codesign #Sustainability #Manchester

We're thrilled to share the incredible story of our partnership with The Molo Street Project and AtkinsRéalis to create a vibrant playground for the children of Molo, Kenya. 🇰🇪 Together, we designed and built a playful space that's inclusive, engaging, and built to last. From initial observations to creative workshops and the final construction, every step was guided by the children's needs and the community's unique spirit. Our Play Here exhibitions completed last week and we are so glad over 1000 people were able to experience it. Check out the video (with sound :)) for some highlights. Now that the exhibition is completed, we are looking for businesses, foundations and individuals to collaborate with us to make some of their designs a reality. To exhibit their #sustainable solutions, we temporarily transformed a public alleyway and a space in a shopping centre Greener & Cleaner. This not only made the spaces more playful and welcoming, it also allowed children's ideas to occupy spaces that are normally used by adults. 105 children #autistic youth where supported by volunteers from industry to create the playful spaces for solar panel and rain garden. Thank you to Arup newcleo Imperial College London Women in Architecture UK STEM Ambassadors Puraffinity and many more. Their designs were showcased in the exhibition but and the fantastic visitors contributed too. How? -By taking superhero selfies to remind them they can also help to sustain our world 👓 -By commenting on 3D printed models of the children's ideas, thank you very much for making and donating them Fixie -By completing a playful work book that helped them to reflect on what they had seen and touched. 🖋 -By decorating laser cut flowers and animals that showcased the biodiversity that rain gardens can produce. 🌸 🐝 The exhibition may be complete but you can still see the virtual exhibition at the link below https://lnkd.in/gje9RqqK Thank you to our fantastic retail partners in London and Bromley Market Peckham Workspace Greener & Cleaner
