We have published our annual report: https://lnkd.in/dfbnpXHG Drinking water quality in England is excellent, with public supplies consistently meeting the stringent regulatory standards for drinking water. Where failures do occur, a rigorous investigation takes place with actions to protect consumers and prevent recurrence. Marcus Rink said:- ‘Drinking water in England is amongst the most tightly regulated and best quality in the world. Water companies consistently meet the stringent regulatory standards for drinking water, with 99.97% of samples complying with the regulatory standards in 2023. Whilst the report shows the excellent quality of drinking water for consumers in England, it is appropriate to highlight those areas requiring further improvement. The purpose of this is to ensure that there is continual investment, development, and enhancement, to benefit consumers and safeguard supplies for future generations.’ #drinkingwaterquality #annualreport #waterstandards

The combination of coliform detections, asset integrity of service reservoirs and the risks associated with climate change, particularly heavy rain, was underpinned by data identifying a 6% residual risk where asset condition assessment remained outstanding. The outcome has been water companies working on internal inspections, cleaning and maintenance to keep our drinking water quality world-leading. The supply chain has been vital in providing the skills, knowledge and expertise to close the assessment gap. During my visit to Welsh Water's Bewdley Bank, the experience and enthusiasm of the SR team to play their part in keeping drinking water quality first was clear to me. This helps secure our supply for future generations. Well done all.

Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI) reposted this
The senior team of DWI visited work on the Vyrnwy LDTM where United Utilities demonstrated new seamless weld pipes being inserted inside two cast iron mains and cleaning of the steel main. With 5km of new pipe already completed and over 26km cleaned, the combination of DWI enforcement, company investment, and a highly skilled and enthusiastic team all working together on improving the risks associated with discolouration. The work benefits over 1M consumers in Cheshire and Merseyside. This demonstrates the commitment by companies and DWI to keep drinking water in England the best in the world. Well done all.
