A programme that aims to better prepare children and young people aged 3-24 for the world of work.
About us
"Developing The Young Workforce" (DYW) is an initiative which is primarily aimed at improving outcomes for young people. It will achieve this by increasing employer engagement in education, better using limited resources and showcasing good practice. The strategy and targets, agreed with Scottish Government, will enable young people, their parents and their teachers to understand the local labour market and opportunities and progression paths that are available to them. The project will also see sustainable long term partnerships being formed between local businesses and schools/colleges. This improved two-way relationship will see significant improvements in the amount of young people who are recruited locally and increased number of young people taking a modern apprenticeship. Developing the Young Workforce groups have been set up all over the country, with the support of the Scottish Government, in response to Sir Ian Woods report Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce. Moray businesses are urged to get involved to retain talent in the area and develop young people with the relevant skills for their business.

We are delighted to have presented our August Employer Recognition Award to the staff of Mackenzie & Cruickshank in Forres. The Forres and Moray community has recently been saddened of the recent passing of Owner Peter Wilson, who has been an avid supporter of the Developing Young Workforce Agenda for many years. Peter played a vital role in the employer community surrounding Forres Academy and local young people across the Moray region. This award recognises all of his hard work and the legacy he leaves with Mackenzie & Cruickshank 👇👏 https://lnkd.in/g7U8GbeX DYW Scotland | Moray Chamber of Commerce | The Northern Scot

DYW (Developing the Young Workforce) Moray reposted this
We are pleased to share that earlier today, Sarah Barnes and Aimee Stephen from our team delivered a presentation to the leadership team and managers at Walker's Shortbread Ltd. to discuss setting up a DYW Moray Ambassador Group within the company.🍪 During the presentation, they explained the role of DYW Moray in bridging the gap between education and employment, and highlighted the various activities that Walkers employees can get involved in, such as mentoring, workplace visits, and career talks. We have been proudly working with Walkers Shortbread since 2016, and we look forward to strengthening this partnership even further. A special thank you to Jill and Kelly from the HR team for facilitating this opportunity. We are excited to work more closely with Walkers Shortbread employees and to support young people in Moray through these collaborative efforts.🙌🏽 Walker's Shortbread Ltd. DYW Scotland
