Designing beautiful and viable places and spaces with an enthusiasm to get things done!
About us
ECE Westworks are based in central Bristol, with strong connections to this prosperous region’s construction industry in addition to nation-wide knowledge and project delivery experience. We are a passionate and driven company that understands commercial reality whilst thinking innovatively. The team is managed by Till Scherer and James Wainwright, delivering quality projects that help our private and public sector clients secure real tangible benefits in the form of commercial targets, sustainable outcomes and indeed a combination of both without one compromising the other. This is achieved by the team having an in-depth understanding of a client’s true requirements and the impact that our design decisions have on both project cost and building performance. ECE Westworks has translated this skill set into particular expertise within the residential, student accommodation, hotel, commercial office and education sectors. Designing beautiful places and spaces with an enthusiasm to get things done! ECE Westworks is part of the ECE Group, also comprising ECE Architecture (an award-winning architecture practice dedicated to the successful design and delivery of projects that exceed expectations in the widest sense) and ECE Planning (Chartered Town Planning practice providing professional guidance, advice and delivery of projects that maximise development potential).

We’re thrilled to announce that the regeneration of Maple House has officially been approved! 🌟 This landmark project on Birmingham’s iconic Corporation Street represents a transformative moment for the city, and we couldn’t be prouder of the role ECE Westworks played in bringing the design to life. Corporation Street is a setting of exceptional character, defined by its rich heritage, striking terracotta façades, and iconic civic landmarks. Designing a building that respects this context while embracing modernity was both a challenge and an opportunity. At ECE Westworks, we believe great design can honor the past while confidently looking to the future, and Maple House reflects this ethos. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of an exceptional team, including: Node– for their unmatched heritage and townscape expertise. Lambert Smith Hampton – for insightful planning guidance. Linden Hill Capital Management– for their vision and leadership in making this project possible. Tom Critchell, Jack Hanson, Katie Gregory, Katie Kershaw, Philippa Fairburn, Peter Brenton MRICS, Arif Sheikh, Antony Harding

We’re excited to see the Redcliff Quarter PBSA project take shape! This modern, development is set to offer top-tier living spaces for students, and we're making great progress toward completion. Scaffolding is coming down across all elevations, with the final window and brickwork installation underway. Alongside this, the entrance canopy is taking shape as aluminium pieces are being added. Inside, all student bedrooms are now fully furnished, and the marketing suite is staged for prospective tenants. Looking ahead, the site team are preparing to install the green roof and landscape elements, adding the finishing touches to the project. Andy Bremerkamp, Cleo Kyriacou, Jo Robertson

Westworks is excited to announce that we've secured planning approval for the redevelopment of No. 1 Stokes Croft in Bristol, home of Mickleburgh Musical Instruments since 1903. The consented scheme will deliver new purpose-built retail spaces and ancillary facilities for Mickleburgh, along with 126 purpose-built student accommodation units. This redevelopment ensures the continued presence of Mickleburgh Musical Instruments in this iconic location, while expanding their offerings to include not only retail, but also new spaces for music tuition and practice. A key feature of the project will be a new performance venue, designed to showcase local talent and serve as a valuable community asset. We are delighted to be working with Colico Living Ltd and Mickleburgh Musical Instruments on this rewarding Bristol-based development, and we look forward to seeing the project progress.

Bristol is ECE Westworks’ hometown and for many years we had no major projects here. But now this is certainly not the case, ECE Westworks are working on a number of projects in the city, with four large projects onsite and more either in planning or with the Building Safety Regulators. Bristol was the second fastest growing of all the Core Cities in England and Wales over the last decade* and there is a huge demand for housing and student accommodation here. If all of these projects are added up, there are around 1600 new homes, including nearly 200 affordable homes and 815 student beds. Image Legend: 1. Bedminster Plot 4: 316 unit residential scheme including 21 affordable dwellings , due for completion early 2025. 2. Redcliff Quarter (Resi): 468 unit residential scheme, including 94 affordable dwellings, due for completion spring/summer 2025. 3.
