The latest report from McKinsey & Company examines the reality of the trajectory of the #EnergyTransition in the United States and Europe. ➡ It leaves us with one clear thought – legislators, governments and corporations urgently need to accelerate the deployment of cost-effective, efficient and scalable #decarbonisation technologies to reach #NetZero goals. A wide range of technologies that will be crucial for us, such as nuclear power, carbon capture, wind and energy storage, require construction. So, it makes sense to do this in the most carbon-effective way possible. At Ecocem, our #LowCarbon cement technology ACT, can reduce carbon emissions from cement by up to 70% without a ‘green premium’. The technology is ready, and cost is no longer a barrier – regulatory bodies need to make way for viable alternative solutions that are available now, in the cement sector. #FutureOfCement #Innovation #Technology #Sustainability #AdvancingNetZero
Nine years after the Paris Agreement, we're at a critical moment for the climate. There's a big gap between energy goals and real progress, which could slow down the shift away from fossil fuels. Ecocem was honoured to participate in a working luncheon of pioneer members of NetworkIrlande, La Chambre de Commerce et de l'Industrie Franco-Irlandaise with guest of honour An Taoiseach, Simon Harris, at the Irish Embassy in Paris this week. Ecocem’s Director of Public Affairs and Sustainability, Susan McGarry, attended the meeting which hosted a rich discussion focused on the growing trade and business relations between Ireland and France. We would like to thank the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland and Ireland’s Ambassador to France, Niall Burgess, for hosting the event. Ecocem is leading the way in Ireland and in Europe in helping the cement and concrete sectors to decarbonise the built environment more quickly and to avoid carbon emissions in the first instance. Given the scale of the challenge highlighted in this report by CO2 Value Europe, it makes sense to avoid CO2 production wherever possible... 📃 https://lnkd.in/dKTQ_YtN There are options for cement, responsible for almost 8% of all global emissions, to do just this ➡ by harnessing scalable #LowCarbon technologies such as ACT, our latest low-carbon cement technology. ACT radically reduces clinker, the critical ingredient in #cement which is responsible for over 90% of #concrete’s emissions. ACT boosts the performance and improves the efficiency of alternative materials used to replace clinker and can reduce CO2 emissions by 70% by 2030. At Ecocem, we believe prevention is better than cure. We have over 20 years of experience across many regions producing and providing a range of low-carbon cement technologies. Our products have been used in some of the world’s most iconic buildings such as the recent Athletes’ Village in Paris, France and the Tottenham Hotspur Football Stadium in London, United Kingdom. To date, our technology has prevented over 18 million tonnes of CO2 from preventing Earth’s atmosphere. We have a solution. Come with us. #FutureOfCement #Sustainability #Construction #AdvancingNetZero | Carbon Herald

The United States is making strides in #decarbonisation by encouraging innovation in the cement industry, a hard-to-abate sector. In an exciting announcement last month, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)’s Industrial Efficiency and Decarbonization Office shared its plans to create a Cement and Concrete Center of Excellence: https://bit.ly/3zQEMPU 🌎 This validates the need for #LowCarbon cement technologies in North America, a conversation we’ve been having at Ecocem, as we’ve deployed millions of tonnes of low-carbon cement in Europe over the past two decades. 🌎 We've developed a low-carbon cement technology, ACT, which can reduce emissions from cement by up to 70%, to lower industrial emissions and support every effort to decarbonise the global cement sector. #FutureOfCement #Cement #Concrete #InflationReductionAct #AdvancingNetZero

📽 Watch Ecocem Founder and Managing Director, Donal O’Riain speak at the "Solving for the Built Environment: Embodied and Operational Carbon" session at the Breakthrough Energy Summit 2024: https://lnkd.in/dFs4fp5G - Donal speaks at 26:48 He addresses the issue of 'the green premium' in cement; describes the impact ACT, our innovative #LowCarbon cement technology, can have now, and makes the U.S. Army an offer they almost can’t refuse. Policymakers are still years behind the #technology. Policy needs to change, and the industry must respond. This is our vision. We are Ecocem. The radical answer to a major global carbon problem. #BESummit24 #FutureOfCement #Cleantech #AdvancingNetZero #Fitfor55 #SustainableConstruction

Together, we can transform the global cement industry from a major carbon emitter into a champion of #sustainability 🏅 #Clinker is the essential active ingredient in cement and responsible for over 90% of concrete’s carbon footprint. Because of this, the cement industry has been seen as ‘hard to abate’ accounting for roughly 8% of global CO2 emissions. Today, that is no longer the case. Companies are actively developing new technologies to reduce emissions from #cement production. And that’s what our people here at Ecocem have been doing for decades. Our #LowCarbon cement technology, ACT, reduces the need to burn limestone to produce clinker by using alternative materials and using these materials with much greater efficiency. This avoids producing emissions during the manufacturing process: https://lnkd.in/e36guECt Delivering a low-carbon revolution and a whole lot more 🏗 #FutureOfCement #CleanTech #Research #Innovation #NetZero | Ecocem Ireland | Ecocem UK | Ecocem en France | Ecocem Benelux

Did you know that over 10% of our total workforce is solely dedicated to Research and Innovation? Cement accounts for 8% of the world's global CO2 emissions. Solving this challenge is critical, which is why we have such a large team of scientists and engineers invested in our future and focused on #decarbonisation. ➡ ACT, our scalable low-carbon cement #technology which can deliver a 70% reduction in CO2, is a direct result of this focus. ACT technology can deliver this reduction competitively while providing the workability, strength and durability required of any concrete it is used to make. Most importantly, this #CleanTech can be used globally and at scale. ACT will be available commercially in 2026. It's the future, built better. #FutureOfCement #Research #Innovation #Construction #Sustainability #NetZero | Roberta Alfani | Artur Kiiashko | Thomas Wattez | Patrick Azar | Matthieu Bertin | Simon Blotevogel | Loren MASSON | Ludovic Andre | Yasmine KACI, PhD | John Reddy | Matthew Cruickshank | Erisa Myrtja | Mohamed Elkarim Bouarroudj | Florian Marigo | Mustapha Zaylaaroussi

The World Economic Forum, in collaboration with Oliver Wyman, has set out new guidance that corporate leaders in the cement and concrete industries should follow to future-proof their business and ensure they contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable world for everyone: “Companies that can get ahead of the risks of nature loss can be prepared for incoming policy and regulatory requirements and minimize disruption from nature-related physical, transition and systemic risks. By taking early action, businesses can build resilience and benefit from the opportunities of transitioning towards a “nature-positive” world by 2030 – the mission at the heart of the UN Biodiversity Plan to halt and reverse nature loss.” 🔷 Here at Ecocem, we have over 20 years' experience of creating and producing #LowCarbon cement technologies that can immediately reduce the emissions produced by the construction industry right here and now. 🔷 Our technology can accelerate the #decarbonisation of the cement industry. Our latest technology, ACT, can deliver a 70% reduction in CO2 and is fully scalable. It requires minimal additional infrastructure investment while delivering all the performance requirements of any concrete it is used to make. 🔷 ACT today, for a better tomorrow. #FutureOfCement #Construction #AdvancingNetZero #UN #SDGs
