After six years as Chair of Trustees, please join us in saying a huge thank you to Tony Bernstein for all his support. Tony has completed two full terms as Chair, and has seen us through the good times and the more challenging times - not to mention Covid! So much has happened in that time - Electric Umbrella is different in so many ways, yet we are proud to retain so many members that have been with us on this journey right from the start, and we still hold true to the values we set out right at the very beginning. Thank you, Tony for your wisdom, patience and commitment to all things Electric Umbrella - we hope to see you at a gig someday soon. We are looking forward to welcoming our incoming Chair and will share more details soon!

After two amazing years, and hundreds of instruments refurbished, up-cycled and sold, our Instruments For Change project is winding down, and our retail shop at The Emporium, in The Marlowes, Hemel Hempstead, will be closing soon. So we’re having a massive closing down sale… come in and find yourself a bargain! You only have a few weeks… and everything must go!

We had an amazing night at the Hard Rock Cafe this week, launching “Kindness Isn’t Just For Christmas” and marking our 10th Anniversary. It felt very special to share the celebrations with some of the people who are such an important part of the Electric Umbrella journey - members and their families, support workers, musicians, staff, volunteers, Trustees, funders, donors, and our charity partners - and to introduce new friends to our work and our amazing members. Special thanks to Mathew Turvey and all at Hard Rock Global Sales for hosting this special night. Introducing our Christmas Single 2023 “Kindness isn’t just for Christmas”, by Electric Umbrella. Over 2000 school children came together with us to perform this song along with our learning disabled members and professional musicians. Our Education resources for schools using music to deliver lessons about kindness, diversity and acceptance are happening - all over the country.
