Arm partners with Panasonic Automotive Systems Company of America for SDV architecture 🤝🚗 At the Arm Tech Symposia, in Tokyo, this week, Arm announced a partnership with Panasonic to standardise the automotive architecture for software-defined vehicles (SDVs), with a future-proofed software stack. Dipti Vachani, SVP and GM of the Automotive Line of Business, presenting at the Arm Tech Symposia 2024 The partners have demonstrated a proof-of-concept using PAS’s open-source remote GPU technology, Unified HMI, to implement a Display Zonal architecture built on Arm which distributes GPU loads from the central ECU (engine control unit) to multiple zonal ECUs. 👉 https://ow.ly/NvOg50U31lc

MACOM buys ENGIN-IC M/A-COM TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS HOLDINGS, INC. has bought ENGIN-IC, Inc., a fabless semiconductor company that designs GaN MMICs and integrated microwave assemblies in Plano, Texas and San Diego, California. ENGIN-IC’s design capabilities will strengthen MACOM’s ability to serve its target markets. Founded in 2014 by industry veterans, ENGIN-IC has focused on serving the U.S. defence industry since its inception. Machine learning predicts better electrode materials for sodium-ion batteries 📣 Tokyo University of Science has trained AI with years of electrochemical research results to predict better electrode materials for sodium-ion battery positive electrodes. Sodium-ion batteries are seen as a lower cost alternative to lithium-ion batteries, for grid storage, for example, but the large sodium ions are difficult to store. The University is looking into a class of compounds called transition-metal layered oxides of the form NaMeO2, where ‘Me’ represents a mixture of metals such as manganese, titanium, zinc, nickel, iron or tin. Q3 semi sales up 23% year-on-year, says SIA 🌟 "The global semiconductor market continued to grow during the third quarter of 2024, with quarter-to-quarter sales increasing at the largest rate since 2016," says SIA CEO John Neuffer. “sales in September reached the market’s highest-ever monthly total, driven by a 46.3% year-to-year increase in the Americas." Regionally, year-to-year sales in September were up in the Americas (46.3%), China (22.9%), Asia Pacific/All Other (18.4%), and Japan (7.7%), but down in Europe (-8.2%).
