Since we began in 2009, we have championed research and innovation as a driver for change in the humanitarian sector.  “The world has never been a more dangerous and frightening place for millions of the most vulnerable people in our communities. Developing research that helps to understand humanitarian challenges better and provide solutions that will enable those most affected by crises to be safe, secure and to uphold their rights, has never been more important.  This is an exciting time to join Elrha as we enter our new strategic period (2023-2040). We are looking for a CEO who can bring senior-level global expertise and lead Elrha in achieving our new ambitious vision.” - Dr Jane Cocking, Chair of Elrha’s Board of Trustees.  Full description of the role and our CEO Candidate Pack here: https://bit.ly/4708sXm We’re accepting applications on a rolling basis until Monday 23 September 2024 at 17:00 GMT. #HumanitarianJobs #CareerOpportunities #Elrha #CharityJobs #UKAidJobs #LeadershipRole

As the world prepares for World Water Week 2024, we're sharing a playlist highlighting our work in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). Why WASH? Limited access to clean water and poor sanitation are major drivers for the spread of diseases – a critical challenge during crises. Women and girls are particularly affected by a lack of well-designed latrines and access to safe water. There is still much work to be done. Explore our WASH video playlist that includes projects and research studies addressing key challenges with innovative solutions to drive progress in humanitarian #WASH response. Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and this is even higher in countries experiencing crisis. Despite this, NCDs have received limited attention in humanitarian response efforts. The ability to respond to chronic disease in crisis settings is not well established, with access to care often inadequate and frequently disrupted. Since 2014, Elrha has contributed to strengthening the evidence base by funding numerous studies using rigorous research methods to address the high burden of NCDs in humanitarian settings. Our work tackles critical problems for #NCDs in humanitarian settings by building a consensus-based research agenda and increasing the evidence-base for effective interventions. Revolutionising humanitarian innovation: Introducing the Community-Led Innovation Partnership (CLIP). The CLIP supports the creation, scaling, or adoption of locally-driven solutions identified and designed by people affected by crises and is actively pushing to realise humanitarian responses that meet existing humanitarian needs in a dignified, sustainable, efficient, and effective way. Operating in the Philippines, Guatemala, South Sudan and Indonesia, the CLIP is demonstrating the power of locally-driven solutions in crisis-affected regions. The approach integrates flexible experimentation, adaptive learning, and financial and non-financial support from global partners to drive sustainable, context-specific innovations. The impact? A shift towards community problem-solving, enhanced local innovation capacity, and improved relevance of humanitarian interventions. Interested to learn more?
