🌍 Enjoying the experience at the #EMCCGlobal "Mentoring for Change" conference in Bucharest, organised by the brilliant EMCC Romania team! The event brings together passionate mentors and coaches, all committed to transforming lives and careers—and I’m so thrilled to be part of it as an #EMCCUK representative. Last night, we kicked things off with a walking tour The Lights of Bucharest. There’s something truly special about exploring a city through its history and the stories of its people. We discovered the heart of Bucharest, learning about its resilience and vibrancy, and it was the perfect way to connect with fellow attendees. This morning’s session, hosted at KPMG, took things to the next level with a panel on AI and its impact on mentoring and beyond. The discussions were eye-opening, touching on practical AI tools that could support mentoring practices while also tackling some of the ethical questions we must navigate as this technology advances. From privacy considerations to bias in AI systems, the panel provided so much food for thought—and left us questioning how AI can shape, but not dominate, the future of mentoring. Feeling inspired and excited for what’s next! #Supervision #DEI. Let’s keep the conversation going on how we can use new tools responsibly to make a positive impact. #MentoringForChange #AI #EMCC #FutureOfMentoring #FutureofCoaching #EthicalAI

The EMCC UK Black History Month event was amazing, with many insights and engaging conversations. Some key takeaways included Dr. LANRE OLUSOLA (The Catalyst) emphasizing common challenges such as stress overload, heightened anxiety, isolation, financial strain, trauma and grief (lingering from the pandemic), emotional burnout, and digital overwhelm that people face in this constantly changing and volatile world. He highlighted Nigeria's severe shortage of # mentalhealth professionals, with approximately 2400 registered psychotherapists and only about 250 psychiatrists serving a population of 230 million. Furthermore, he explained the need for coaches to adapt to changes in client behaviour from pre-, during, and post-COVID and for coaches to offer a more integrative practice focusing on self-care, digital fatigue management, trauma-informed coaching, financial literacy, building communities, and emotional intelligence. #CarmenFranklin discussed some challenges coaches face in corporate spaces, including imposter syndrome and biases, and stressed the importance of creating safe environments for learning and growth. She emphasizes the importance of self-care, having a great mentor, and creating unique coaching frameworks that incorporate lived experiences. The panel discussion included Ovo Gharoro sharing a powerful example which highlighted the importance of cultural understanding in ensuring coaching is more effective. The panellists, including Coretta Hine and Yetty Williams, emphasized the need for all individuals to become more aware of biases, focus on creating individual narratives, coaches and executives taking personal responsibility by testing their narratives, and more collaboration among coaches across continents and backgrounds. Siobhan Lynam Ultimately, embracing our collective diversity will benefit all involved and provide a richer and more diverse coaching experience. #emccuk #emccukbhm #coaches #BHM #DEI #diversityincoaching If you are not yet a member of the #EMCCUK, visit EMCC UK for more information on joining this professional body dedicated to improving the coaching, mentoring, and supervision experience for all.
