How can you go short in this market? With crude inventories low, can oil markets continue to be bearish? On the 1st of October at the EA Conference, Energy Aspects stated this was not the time to short, a view that has been validated by the recent geopolitics-driven price rally. #EnergyAspects #Oil #OilMarkets #Brent #OOTT

The EU's anti-dumping duties on Chinese biodiesel and HVO will lead to a forecasted 63% reduction in exports to Europe in 2024 y/y. In response, China is redirecting biodiesel to domestic bio-bunker projects and shifting HVO production to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which remains unaffected by the duties. This strategic pivot could lead to a 1–2% SAF blending mandate by 2026. Energy Aspects is committed to helping you navigate the energy transition. The third instalment of the EA Forum Jeff Currie podcast series, released earlier this week for Energy Aspects subscribers, is now available. In the latest podcast, Jeff Currie tells Dr Amrita Sen, EA Founder and Director of Market Intelligence, that the oil market is too bearish and not paying attention to low stocks or the US Fed and Chinese rate cuts. They also discuss how: - Emerging markets, particularly China and Latin America, are expected to benefit from US rate cuts, potentially increasing oil demand. - Investment in energy infrastructure is lacking, with a need for capital to return to the sector to support future demand and transition efforts. - The growth of AI data centres and how that is set to transform gas demand globally. A four-month decline in commodity prices until mid-September, a chunky opening interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve, and a substantial Chinese monetary ease have raised concerns that a marked global slowdown is underway. Are there early signs of this in the energy and tech markets? To answer this question, Earl Han, the Head of Medley Advisors, brought together Sung Soo Han and and Christopher Haines. Dr. Han is the CTO of Kolon Group and formerly head of research at Samsung and LG Electronics. Kitt Haines is the Global Crude Lead for Energy Aspects.
