  • 200 schools and hospitals across the UK will receive up to £180 million in funding for solar panels from Great British Energy.    Responding to the announcement, Christine St John Cox, platform lead – complex site decarbonisation, at Energy Systems Catapult, said:    “Energy Systems Catapult welcomes the targeted investment supporting the decarbonisation of the public sector estate, with solar PV enhancing energy security for hospitals and schools. Primarily focusing funding on schools in deprived areas not only addresses energy challenges but also holds promise for improving educational outcomes.”   “Through Innovate UK funding, we have been developing a robust system to generate a comprehensive view of energy use and decarbonisation opportunities across the UK. That said, a critical challenge remains – decarbonisation must also see a transition of the heat load away from fossil fuels.   “To decarbonise public sector buildings, the Department for Education and the NHS face estimated costs of around £30 billion for schools and £8 billion for health. This underscores the urgent need to accelerate progress toward Net Zero through access to innovative finance solutions.”   https://lnkd.in/eriPkCZC
