To help keep the British people safe from the climate emergency and support energy security, we are cooperating pragmatically and securely with China, while also challenging them on issues such as forced labour in supply chains. That's why Energy Secretary Ed Miliband was in China for formal talks to accelerate climate action, including refreshing a UK-China Clean Energy Partnership to securely collaborate on mutually benefitting areas such as clean technologies. While there, the Energy Secretary also: 🟦 Met with National Energy Administrator Minister Wang Hongzhi and Ecology and Environment Minister Huang Runqiu. 🟦 Gave a talk on global collaboration to tackle the climate crisis at Tsinghua University and saw carbon capture and hydrogen power at Energy Valley in Changping. As part of the Prime Minister's Plan for Change, we're delivering on our commitment to guarantee a long-term future for Britain's offshore industries 👷♂️ Earlier this week we launched a consultation that puts the North Sea at the heart of our clean energy future as we look to end new oil and gas licenses and embrace renewables 🌍 We're working with industry, communities and wider organisations to make this phased transition work and how best to harness the North Sea’s existing infrastructure, natural assets and world-leading expertise to deploy new technologies like hydrogen, carbon capture and storage, and renewables to make the UK a clean energy superpower ✅ Have your say: https://lnkd.in/e-WpTCC9
