This week, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Professional Negotiation & Influencing training by ENS, thanks to the support of our Deputy Country Director, Colin Dunn and Rio Tinto. It has been one of the most impactful trainings of my career, helping me to enhance my interpersonal, planning, and negotiation skills. A huge shoutout to Philip Wade, who is undoubtedly the best trainer we could have asked for. His insights and teaching methods have left a lasting impression that will stay with us throughout our careers. Feeling grateful and inspired!

For professionals engaged in high-stakes negotiations, understanding the underlying psychological dynamics is critical to achieving successful outcomes. Read more: https://lnkd.in/g668BGhs

Critical thinking and negotiation are deeply interconnected skills essential for success in today’s workplace. Effective negotiation requires not just persuasive tactics, but a clear, strategic approach to analysing information and anticipating outcomes—skills that critical thinking enhances. When you sharpen your critical thinking, you unlock your potential to assess complex situations, identify underlying needs, and make informed decisions during negotiations. This results in better outcomes, improved relationships, and long-term value creation. Leadership is the process of effective influencing Influencing activities are played out every day in corporate board rooms, in management meetings, during departmental decision-making, between peers and within boss/subordinate interactions. The unskilled observer fails to recognise the influencing process that is shifting them towards someone else's opinion. They cannot 'see' the mechanisms that are being used to persuade, yet alone know how to counter them. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ge2GS-SM

Never Assume, Find Out First (NAFOF): Negotiations based on untested assumptions frequently fail. As skilled negotiators, we know the importance of identifying assumptions and testing them rigorously before finalising the negotiation strategy. When looking back at less successful business or personal negotiations, how often do we recognise that our strategy was littered with untested assumptions? And how often are these the ones we made about the other side? Read more here: https://lnkd.in/gG2bh3ma
