Heathrow Airport Closure – Cargo Delays Expected 🚨 Heathrow Airport (LHR) is currently closed due to a major power outage caused by a fire at a nearby electrical substation in Hayes, West London. The closure is expected to remain in place until 11:59 PM tonight (March 21, 2025), leading to over 1,000 flight cancellations and diversions worldwide. Impact on Cargo: 📦 All inbound and outbound airfreight via LHR is facing significant delays and potential rerouting. 🚛 Airline handling sheds remain operational, so truck arrivals are still being processed. Angus Hind, Director of Europa Air & Sea commented: “Today’s closure of Heathrow, Europe’s busiest and the UK’s biggest airport, will have a profound impact on supply chains for days, and potentially weeks, to come. Even if LHR reopens this evening as planned, the backlog will take time to clear.” The Europa Air team is proactively reaching out to customers with affected shipments.
