That’s a wrap on a fantastic week here at SATELLITE Conference & Exhibition 2025 in Washington D.C. 🌎 From insightful panel discussions to meetings with customers, new contract signings and engaging with suppliers across the industry, it was great to connect with space leaders to discuss the future of satellite communications. This year’s event reinforced a key message: Multi-orbit solutions are in demand today are meeting the needs of customers around the world. From delivering resiliency and redundancy for critical services to serving ever-growing capacity demands in a range of markets from aviation to government, we are seeing significant enthusiasm from customers and the wider industry. Following the merger of Eutelsat and OneWeb in 2023, we have created the world’s only multi-orbit network operator; combining Eutelsat’s scale and reach, alongside OneWeb’s rapid growth in a high-demand low Earth orbit industry segment. Across our many panel sessions, Eva Berneke, Neha Idnani, Kimberly Baum, and Ian Canning (EACOWT (Eutelsat America Corp. + OneWeb Technologies)) shared insights on our multi-orbit GEO-LEO solutions, the industry’s collective responsibility to advance space sustainability, through to the objectives and importance of IRIS², and supporting sovereign connectivity solutions. Our wholesale connectivity model, working B2B, enables our partners to uniquely integrate and tailor our solutions into their services, extending connectivity where it's needed most. A highlight of the week was our customer event, where we gathered with valued partners and colleagues. As our Chief Executive, Eva, said on the night: our customers have worked with us from the start of this journey, and now, as the industry recognizes the need for alternative and multiple providers, we are proud to offer a trusted, scalable, global solution alongside them. Our commitment to our partners and end users remains strong - backed by SLAs and CIRs that guarantee reliable, high-performance connectivity no matter where you are. A big thank you to everyone who joined us for an excellent (and busy!) week in Washington DC – see you next time! 👋

Eutelsat Group, MediaTek, and Airbus achieve the world’s first 5G Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) connection via LEO satellites in orbit 🛰️ In collaboration with our colleagues at MediaTek and Airbus Defence and Space, we have successfully become the first satellite operator to demonstrate 5G air interface working on an operational commercial fleet. During the trial, a 5G user terminal successfully connected to the 5G core via the satellite link and exchanged traffic. This is an important milestone as it paves the way for deployment of 5G NTN and interoperability between terrestrial and satellite technologies. This is also critical as 5G NTN will be a key feature of the IRIS² constellation. By leveraging MediaTek’s NR NTN test chipset and our Airbus-built Eutelsat OneWeb LEO satellites, we’ve shown that satellite and terrestrial networks can seamlessly integrate in real-world conditions - paving the way for the deployment of 5G NTN standards, which are set to enable a range of applications and markets from smartphones to IoT devices, and providing truly global, ubiquitous connectivity. Commenting on the trial, Arlen Kassighian, Chief Engineering Officer at Eutelsat Group, said: “These trials show the commitment of Eutelsat Group in developing and adopting new technologies, in order to provide the best possible services to our customers, in collaboration with trusted partners. 5G NTN will be a key feature of the IRIS2 constellation, and Eutelsat is at the forefront of this innovation and active member of the ecosystem. “We are proud to be the first satellite operator to demonstrate the 5G air interface working on a commercial fleet in Ku-band and paving the way for new applications in future constellations.” A huge thank you to our trusted partners at MediaTek and Airbus, for their collaboration in making this achievement possible. You can find out more about the trials on our website, via the link in the comments, below ⤵️

This week, we hosted a large delegation of NCO's from The Royal Corps of Signals at our Eutelsat OneWeb offices in London, as part of the Regiment’s communications training course with the UK Ministry of Defence 🌐 At Eutelsat Group, we hold a long-standing relationship with the UK Government, so we were pleased to share the latest developments in innovative global government connectivity solutions with our guests. During their visit, the group had the opportunity to hear from Stuart Armitage, Eutelsat Group's Director for Strategic Accounts, Government, and Gurpreet Sohal, Senior Sales Engineer, who provided insights into the pivotal role low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite technology can play in providing ubiquitous and secure global communications – focusing on how our connectivity solutions can improve both tactical edge and team morale. The briefing covered our LEO spacecraft, ground infrastructure, network architecture and coverage, security and resilience, as well as our suite of User Terminals. We also provided a tour of our Satellite Operations Centre and our ground Network Operation Centre. The knowledge share matched the given brief to educate and bolster the skill set of each individual Royal Signals Regiment soldier to our LEO SATCOM capabilities, so they can knowledgably utilise LEO as part of their communications armoury in current and future postings. We would like to thank our guests for their enthusiasm and curiosity during the visit, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration between Eutelsat Group and the UK Government in the future.
