FilmChain, through our co-founder Maria Tanjala, had the privilege of speaking at the International Film Distribution Summit in Cologne, where we gained valuable insights from sessions on audience engagement, innovative ways for rural communities to enjoy great cinema, and purposeful distribution strategies. Technology was a key focus, with discussions on top services for rights management, royalties, analytics, and digital experiences. A huge thank you to the incredible speakers and attendees for the engaging conversations, and special thanks to Dorothee Pfistner and Torsten Frehse for the invitation! The European Audiovisual Observatory | Observatoire européen de l'audiovisuel has released an eye-opening report on female professionals in the European film industry. Despite progress, the proportion of women in key roles — directors, screenwriters, producers, cinematographers, and composers — has only increased by 5% since 2015. It's crucial to keep pushing for gender parity in film! 🎬 Read more and download the report here: https://lnkd.in/djNMXwDF Maria Tanjala Irina Albita #WomenInFilm #GenderParity #FilmIndustry #DiversityInFilm #FemaleFilmmakers

We’re still buzzing from the incredible energy at the Trans Film Summit during Toronto International Film Festival 2024! From hearing visionary pitches by trans and non-binary filmmakers to connecting with inspiring friends and collaborators, it was a truly unforgettable experience. Nava Mau’s moving speech as she accepted the Barrier Breakthrough Award left a lasting impact, especially her call to “Hold vision for something that never existed before.” Her words remind us how vital authentic trans representation is in the industry. A special shoutout to the amazing Short Film Funds 3 finalists: Ayo Tsalithaba, Onyeka Oduh, and Jessie Posthumus. Each brought their unique creative voices, and we’re thrilled to announce that Ayo won the competition with their incredible pitch! 🏆 And of course, a huge thank you Jessica Adams and Luis De Filippis for organizing such a phenomenal event. We’re already looking forward to future editions and pushing for more opportunities for gender-diverse creators! ❤️ Maria Tanjala Irina Albita Ontario Creates Telefilm Canada #TransFilmSummit #TIFF2024
