The Financial Markets Group at the LSE is a leading centre in Europe for policy research into financial markets.
About us
The Financial Markets Group (FMG), established as a research centre at the London School of Economics (LSE) in 1987, is a leading centre in Europe for policy research into financial markets. Its overarching goal is to further our understanding of how financial markets help or hinder the real economy. To reach the goal, we aim to facilitate high-quality research into the functioning of financial markets, and to bring that research to bear on financial policy and practice. We aim to facilitate research by fundraising from private- and public-sector bodies, and we aim to maximise impact by disseminating research findings to a wide audience that includes the whole LSE community, the financial sector, practitioners in other industry sectors, policy-makers, and potential LSE students. Our dissemination activities include seminar series, conferences, public lectures, workshops, high-level round-table discussions, journal publications, discussion papers, special papers, and reports aimed at a variety of audiences. FMG, together with its affiliated centres Systemic Risk Centre (SRC) and Paul Woolley Centre (PWC), organise on average 15 large public events, 20 seminars and 10 round-tables every year, many of which are in collaboration with our key partners in both the public and private sectors.
