The bears are back in town. Sorry, Thin Lizzy. In this week’s Views from the Floor (you need to scroll down a bit!), Man Group’s latest monthly markets poll reveals plunging sentiment on US stocks, bonds, oil, and the dollar, as fears of an economic slowdown grow, and inflation refuses to budge. Our poll also shows our participants have turned defensive and focus on Europe and China. https://ow.ly/6wmb50VjU8S

Volatility across interest rates and equities is starting to seep into liquid credit markets as geopolitical uncertainty remains elevated. In this week’s Views from the Floor Jonathan Lahraoui, CFA and Jordan Oyemade, CFA outline how this volatility creates alpha opportunities – but only for those willing and able to accurately price risk and fundamentals. https://lnkd.in/eXWaYwta

This Neurodiversity Celebration Week, we’re proud to celebrate the incredible value that cognitive diversity brings to the workplace. At Man Group, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where neurodivergent individuals can thrive and succeed. We are Disability Confident "Committed" employers, and as members of initiatives like PurpleSpace and the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower 💜 scheme, we’re taking active steps to challenge stereotypes, build understanding, and ensure everyone feels supported. We also run internal programmes with Access Ability (our accessibility, disability and neurodiversity workstream) to promote learning, encourage open conversations, and provide resources for all, including those caring for neurodivergent children.

🌻 While I’m not a parent myself, the privilege of leading Access Ability - our disability, neurodiversity, and accessibility workstream - has shown me that some of our strongest allies have been the parents and carers of neurodiverse children and family members. 🎊 Today, we kicked off the first Parent and Carer Neurodiversity Support Session of the year with Yasodha Rajadurai . It was an honest and vulnerable space where participants were able to share experiences and support each other. 🗓 Balancing work and life is never easy, and for parents and carers, the lines can blur even more when you’re juggling so many roles. I have immense respect for those who navigate these responsibilities while showing up for their teams every day - both online and in the office. 👏 A huge thank you to Yasodha for creating a space to reflect, celebrate strengths, and explore practical tools like the Readiness, Importance, and Confidence framework. I have already noted this down to use the next time I need motivation with a challenge I am facing ✍️ 💜 With #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek around the corner, I hope we can keep these open conversations going between now and our next session. I’m proud to be part of a workplace like Man Group where people can feel safe to share their authentic selves at work! #ThisIsMan #Neurodiversity #Allyship #InclusionMatters #HumanAtWork

For the latest of my 5 Questions With Steven, I spoke to Dr. Niklas Häusler of neuro11. I wrote before of how we have been working with the team to optimise the performance of our portfolio managers. Here I speak to Niklas about helping traders and sportspeople - including Liverpool Football Club - achieve focus and effectiveness under pressure. #highperformance #neuroscience #trading #insight

How are asset owners reallocating towards sustainability? Listen to Jason Mitchell discuss with Dan Mikulskis, People’s Partnership CIO, about how the People’s Partnership is doing to evolve its investment strategy; what that means functionally for in a responsible investment context; and why asset owners like People’s Partnership are taking on a bigger leadership role in sustainable finance. https://lnkd.in/e49NTrrB

The success of a dish lies in its recipe. In their latest article, Man AHL's Yash Panjabi, Eva Sanchez Martin, CFA and Alexandre Costa argue that the same principle applies to portfolio construction. They demonstrate how diversification, capital efficiency and active risk management can be carefully combined in a recipe called the Z-shift, designed to help investors balance enhancing returns with minimising risk. https://ow.ly/ErAb50VgqHe

Are UK pension savers taking enough risk – the right way? At the PLSA Conference yesterday, Minister for Pensions, Torsten Bell, told us that "celebrating the success of auto-enrolment can no longer be a substitute for answering the harder question" as he outlined the challenge of maximising returns for scheme members. In this Man Institute article, Christopher Parker argues that simply boosting equity beta early on in the lifecycle isn’t simply enough. Portable alpha strategies may help enhance risk-adjusted returns, and reduce drawdowns. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eK32cD3n

If you want drama, skip the opera and just look at global equity markets. Cracks are forming in the narrative of US exceptionalism, and while valuations are still near historic highs, sentiment is turning sharply bearish. This disconnect leaves markets vulnerable, and recent corrections are a reminder of how far there is to fall. In this week’s Views from the Floor, Rupert Goodall, highlights how investors can best position themselves defensively. https://ow.ly/XfHx50VfBmq
