Plans are moving forward for a major new development in the city centre. Swansea Council is seeking expressions of interest from companies interested in bidding for the opportunity to build the public sector hub scheme that’s earmarked for the former St David’s shopping centre site. It will include commercial floor space for shops and restaurants on the ground floor. Set to complete in July, an eye-catching 12-storey living tower is transforming the city centre's skyline. Built and joined onto the former Woolworths store, it will house roughly 120 residents, 350 people working in the commercial office spaces, plus ground floor businesses, an exhibition space, and education zone. The schemes will lead to thousands more people working in the city centre to help create the footfall that's needed to support existing traders and attract more shops and other businesses.
