We’re pleased to see widespread energy industry support in this joint letter to James Murray MP, urging HM Treasury and HM Revenue & Customs to: (1) extend zero-rated VAT to heat batteries for central heating systems, and (2) extend this relief for all technologies until 2030. These proposed changes are essential for helping the government deliver its Warm Homes Plan, increasing grid flexibility, and providing homeowners with more options to electrify their heating. It also complements the strong backing from the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero for heat batteries. We’d like to thank all the co-signatories for their support in advancing the electrification of heat: E.ON UK, tepeo, Sunamp, Heat Pump Association (HPA), OVO, Good Energy, Energy Systems Catapult, The MCS Foundation, So Energy, UK Power Networks, Wates Group, Cenergist, Sustainable Energy Association, The Association for Decentralised Energy, Energy Saving Trust, Eskimo Products Ltd, @Centrica New Business & Net Zero, and Thermal Storage UK.
