💷🤑It’s tricky as a young nonprofit figuring out your revenue model. For us it wasn’t linear. Here’s a brief history of ours at Force of Nature: When I joined Force of Nature in 2021 I was reluctant for us to become dependent on donations or funding. I remember many conversations with Clover Hogan on revenue models and sales. We started to run programmes for companies to subsidise the free programmes we delivered to young people. These programmes for companies were aligned with our mission - and were on disrupting business as usual - but didn’t feel as impactful as our work directly with young people. Plus, delivering a product to companies like the large Fortune 500 companies we were working with takes a whole team - designing and delivering the programmes, logistics, sales, and contracts and invoicing… Before we knew it more than 70% of our team’s time was going into these programmes, and pulling us away from our mission: mobilising & resourcing young people to take climate action. It was a hustle, and we were feeling the exhaustion set in. It was at the beginning of 2023 when we received a significant donation that really put things into perspective for us. We were able to do so much more for our community, develop our trainings and resources, and connect young people to opportunities in the climate space. We were able to deepen our partnerships with schools and universities, and participate in groundbreaking global research projects on youth climate & mental health. So we shifted to a fully funded model. We developed relationships with funders, and kept a close eye on grant applications. We started to collaborate on proposals in partnership with others (arguably the most rewarding way to fundraise!). We brought Hannah Sharp in to lead on our fundraising efforts in 2024. We are continually trying to find ways to involve others and redistribute funding beyond Force of Nature in our projects. And look, this approach isn’t perfect either. It’s still a hustle. And diversifying our income is on my mind - as it likely is for any nonprofit director. We run CPD sessions and programmes for universities at a nominal amount. And all of this is subject to change. One thing being in this space has taught me - flexibility. Oh also, resourcefulness. To keep our young, growing organisations alive we have to continually change tact and respond to the needs of our community & our ecosystem. Along the way I’m always happy to share what we’ve learned and resources I’ve found. And if there’s a chance to collaborate, I’ll jump at it. A big thank you to our advisors who we’ve been able to rely on, learn from & learn with over the years. Lisa Smith René Bretschneider Jodi Kamming Peter Prem James Sutton Zac Schwarz Sam Gomersall Jo Confino We’re 76% fundraised for 2025 - and still trying to close the final gap. If you’re interested in funding our work, please get in touch. You can also help us by sharing this ask with your networks. Ty!

  • This statistic is shocking but true; only 0.76% of climate grants go to youth led climate initiatives. ⚡️2025 is the year for bold moves and even bolder dreams and with our growing ambitions, we need to fundraise. Thankfully, we're already halfway towards our funding goal for the year, but we still have £300,000 to raise towards our target✨ We recognise we are one of many youth led projects looking for funding, but now is not the time to stay quiet, so we’re speaking out! Over 70% of young people feel hopeless in the face of the climate crisis today. In 2025, we want to combat this head on. We want to ensure that young people feel empowered to take action against the climate crisis, but in order to do this we need to be resourced. So what’s our plan for 2025? We want to expand this programming by: • Deepening our reach to 5000 young people. • Translating our resources into at least three new languages. • Broadening our current skills based trainings to reflect the wants and needs of young people today. How can you help make these goals a reality? 🗣️ Talk about it! If you want to see more of the work we do with young people then talk about us in rooms we may not have access to! You can find out more about what we’ve accomplished in this past year through our 2024 impact report. 📩 Share it! A repost can go a long way. Sharing this with your community can be an effective means to help the young people we aim to serve. 🌱 Fund us! If you or your organisation can support us towards our funding goal we would love to hear from you, reach out to our Head of Fundraising directly at hannah.sharp@forceofnature.xyz 📧 To find out more, check out our 2025 funding deck here: https://lnkd.in/gtjiiR_A We acknowledge that our community is our greatest strength and resource and we are so grateful to our amazing supporters for believing in young people as leaders of change just as much as we do.

  • For most of us 2024 was a year of increasing polarisation, political struggles and learning valuable lessons. As an organisation we also experienced the ebb and flow of growing and changing alongside our community. 🌱 With so much happening in the world it can be easy to overlook all the amazing moments and triumphs that were had. So, we wanted to take some time to share a few of these moments with you! How did we create change in 2024? 🌍 We expanded and updated our programming and made it more accessible to young people from anywhere in the world. 💻 We enlisted over 260 young people to participate in our free programming. 📈We grew our team by hiring onto our Fundraising, Community, Operations and Marketing teams. 🧠 We contributed to youth-centred mental health research across 7 SDG regions of the globe! These are just some of the incredible things that we were able to accomplish this past year. If you’d like to see more we would love for you to check out our complete 2024 Impact report here: https://lnkd.in/g29T8eQk ✨We are so proud of the work we do and it was only made possible with the help of our supporters and community members like you!✨
