It’s Fife Business Week with lots of exciting events taking place across the region this week. The 15th Annual Meet the Buyer, organised by Fife Council in partnership with the Supplier Development Programme, returns to the Carnegie Conference Centre, Dunfermline, tomorrow from 8.30am until 12.30pm. The Meet the Buyer 2024 event allows local suppliers to discuss contracts, as well as supply chain and sub-contracting opportunities, with public and private sector buyers. Forth Green Freeport will have an information stand at the event for anyone wanting to learn more about the project. Last week, Forth Green Freeport CEO, Sarah Murray, welcomed a delegation from the Scottish Development International Dusseldorf team and visited Forth Green Freeport sites in Grangemouth, Rosyth and Fife College's hydrogen training facility. It proved to be a hugely beneficial trip for everyone involved as the Forth Green Freeport continues to develop its offer to investors Commenting on the visit, Sarah Murray, said: “It was a pleasure to welcome SDI colleagues from Dusseldorf to explore the potential that the Forth Green Freeport sites offer to investors and learn more about the specific advantages that each site offers, not least the exceptional skills provision pipeline. The Government has announced today the continued funding for the Freeports Programme across the UK in its Autumn 2024 Budget, while also announcing that it will work with partners to align the Programme with its policy priorities. Forth Green Freeport partner, Babcock International Group, has cut steel on HMS Formidable, the third of five Inspiration Class frigates they are building for the Royal Navy at their Rosyth facility in Scotland, marking the official start of the ship’s build programme. Babcock’s Chief Executive Officer, David Lockwood said: “Today, we are proud to mark yet another milestone in this important defence programme for the Royal Navy. These frigates will play a significant role in protecting the UK and supporting international partnered defence operations. “This programme is a real demonstration of UK sovereign shipbuilding capability and is delivering positive economic impact within Scotland and in communities across the UK.
