Bhola’s “general curiosity about people, ideas and stories” continues to “fuel” her “passion for storytelling”. Read the full interview ⬇️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳? What I say to myself even now: love is the answer, always! 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? Unconditional love, that I have had the fortune of experiencing since birth, helps build confidence. On tough days, spiritually I call upon the strength of my ancestors and physically I wear or carry something that has special meaning in my life (my aunt’s saree repurposed into a dress, a gorgeous silver trinket box that my grandmother gave me). 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? Nature. My absolute favourite is a walk in the forest. I’m always awed by nature’s creativity and power. The colours, the seasons, the ecosystem, the inherent messages of life. I have been a tree hugger since as long as I can recall. 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱? My father used to say, “Nothing in this life is permanent”. I am still discovering the myriad interpretations and meanings of that single sentence: Life is precious / This too shall pass / Don’t let success go to your head / Don’t take it personally / Savour the now… 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲: The same thing I’d say to my younger self and say to myself now: love is the answer, always! 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲? As an eternal optimist, I believe the future is bright. Almost half of the world’s population is female, more women are getting formal education than ever before and the professional world is slowly but gradually waking up to the power of harnessing the female workforce. That said, to borrow from Robert Frost, there’s “Miles to go before I sleep”. #LifeAtFremantle | #IWD2025

It's official, our feature-length documentary Rebel Country is coming to BBC Two this Autumn, after its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last year. Directed by Francis Whately and produced by whynow Studios and BMG, the film explores a new breed of authentic stars who are rewriting the rules and challenging the culture of country music. Rebel Country explores the current tensions of race, class, poverty, gender, sexuality and creativity versus commerce and geography that are still prevalent in the United States today, while acknowledging their connection to Nashville’s rebellious roots. Artists paving the way include Jelly Roll, Blanco Brown, Breland, Lindsay Ell, Brooke Eden and Lainey Wilson. The success of Rapper Lil Nas X and his 18-million-selling, country-inspired hit Old Town Road is emblematic of a seismic shift that is happening in US country music now, as is Beyonce’s Cowboy Carter album, which won Best Country Album at this year’s Grammy awards. This documentary is an exploration of how art and music reflect the times we live in. It features archive footage from original rebels like Johnny Cash, contributions from some of country’s leading musicians and historians, and live performances, including Jelly Roll’s gig in a prison where he used to be incarcerated. Credits Rebel Country is directed by Francis Whately (David Bowie: Five Years, Dolly Parton: Here I Am). Executive producers are BMG, and Gabriel Jagger and Janet Lee (Basquiat: Rage to Riches, Keith Haring: Street Art Boy) for whynow Studios. Fremantle is handling worldwide sales.

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻'𝘀 𝗗𝗮𝘆 (𝗜𝗪𝗗) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 – 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗲 ⚡ To mark #IWD2025, we sat down with the women at the forefront of our business to celebrate how they have actively helped to #AccelerateAction in their roles. From first jobs and aspirations for the future, to priceless advice she’d share with her younger self if they met for coffee; this week, we hear from our Head of Literary Acquisitions, Raffaella De Angelis. An industry expert, De Angelis partners with producers to navigate the world of IP, negotiate and acquire book rights, and convince agents to entrust Fremantle with projects. De Angelis began her career in the late 90’s as an assistant in the classical music division at ICM in New York. Starting from the bottom, she worked her way up into book publishing as a Literary Agent – all she “ever wanted to work on was championing books”. It wasn’t easy but De Angelis ”learnt everything there and always had amazing support along the way”. Read our full interview ⬇️ 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳? Sharing your passion, connecting and listening to people and colleagues at any level is vital. The people that always helped me to really embrace what I was doing were colleagues. The team got me through – learning from others is vital. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲? You need experience, to be wrong and to make mistakes. You also need validation from others, you need to be seen to build real confidence. It takes one person to see something in you and that person does exist. It’s a long process and it can’t happen overnight, but somebody will see it. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆 𝗺𝗼𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸? I love travelling, walking in nature, the sea, and yoga. Cooking for friends, being with people. I am obsessed with going to the movies, and…there is always reading. 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝘃𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗱? Ask questions and try to understand why you are doing something, what the purpose is and why it’s important. And the golden rule? A bit old-fashioned but always pick up the phone! 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗶𝘃𝗲: It’s very important to find an emotional connection with your work. You have to enjoy yourself and find the inspiration, the humour and the passion in what you do. You must believe you’re doing good work – the world is too depressing otherwise. 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗼𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲? I’m optimistic that, in future, the focus for women at work will be more about being seen as people rather than a gender, more about collaboration, about being different and inclusive, being individuals, to bring our own point of view to a leadership position, regardless if female or male. How can our differences produce a better way of working? The opportunity is for women to define the collaboration, not ask for it.
