  • 'It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley' strikes an emotional chord at Sundance Film Festival. Amy Berg's "electric" and "remarkable" (TheWrap) portrait of the ’90s singer-songwriter was met with praise, nostalgia and tears following the documentary's premiere and an emotional musical tribute from Buckley's friend, musician Ben Harper - a beautifully intimate performance and a moment which Rolling Stone "wished would never be over". The "rapturous" (Variety) film, told through never-before-seen footage, is a “sombre and evocative tribute” (IndieWire) that illuminates one of the most influential and enigmatic figures in modern music. With the film, “I was trying to understand and articulate why I love him so much”, said Berg in an interview with The Guardian. But, she noted, “There just aren’t words to explain Jeff Buckley.” #Sundance #JeffBuckley Topic Studios

  • “His songs got me through every difficult moment in my 20s.” Ahead of the world premiere of 'It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley' today at Sundance Film Festival, Director and Documentarian Amy Berg – whose previous works include Oscar-nominated ‘Deliver Us From Evil’ and ‘The Case Against Adnan Syed’ – spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about her commitment to creating this moving portrait of the ’90s singer-songwriter.   Told through never-before-seen footage and intimate accounts from the three women who knew him best, the film illuminates one of the most influential and enigmatic figures in modern music.   Jeff Buckley, a rising star with an otherworldly voice, left the music world reeling when he died suddenly after the release of his debut album.   The title of the film is borrowed from a lyric in 'Lover, You Should’ve Come Over,' and according to THR, is "intended in part as a reference to Buckley’s ongoing fandom." Berg commented: “I wanted to speak to him in the title: ‘We’re still here, we’re still rooting for you.’ ” 'It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley' is directed by Amy Berg, and produced by Topic Studios, Amy Berg, Mandy Chang, Matthew Roozen and Jennie Bedusa. Fremantle is handling global sales. Read more here 🔗 ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eThdGYes
