  • 💜✨ On Saturday, 418 people took part in one of our largest Sunset Starlight Walks over the last 15 years. Seeing so many of you enter into the spirit meant a real atmosphere of togetherness and community was created on the night. As always it was heart-warming to see so many of you walking with your loved ones but also using the evening as a chance to reflect and remember those loved ones no longer with us. We hope the evening was special for you whatever your motivation for taking part, spending time with your friends and family and hopefully having a bit of a laugh in the process! ✨ Your support with fundraising has so far helped us raise an incredible £42,000! This truly incredible amount continues to rise every day as more sponsorship and donations come in. It could fund more than six days of care for all patients on our Inpatient Unit, including the cost of nursing and our doctors, as well as running costs like hot water. It's not too late to keep supporting us, so make sure you continue to share your fundraising page along with your achievements and photos from the day. ✨ What’s next? Perhaps you fancy changing the walking shoes for running shoes and joining Team Garden House by signing up to this year’s Herts Half and 10k on Sunday 3rd November. We are this year’s charity partner for the event and hope to amass a team of 50 or more runners to run for Garden House Hospice Care. For just £17, and with a free running shirt included, you can take on either the 10k or the always popular half marathon distance. It really will be a great local event starting and finishing at Knebworth House. In April 2024, Polly was given the devastating news she had stage four womb cancer. It was suggested for her to begin chemotherapy in hopes that it would shrink the tumour, but after her first session, she was rushed to the hospital where they found her lungs were full of fluid. Polly's lung began to collapse, and her heart started to fail. The decision was made for her to be transferred to the Hospice where she arrived on an end-of-life pathway. Her family expected the worst, but ten days later, Polly was discharged, no longer relying on oxygen and her heart functioning at a rate that can be managed. With thanks to the support of the Hospice she is living the life she loves with her symptoms under control. Watch Polly's full story here https://lnkd.in/eemnuhMS 💙 Polly’s story could have been very different. Here at Garden House Hospice Care we are leading the next chapter of palliative care. • We said we would launch a new Wellbeing Hub… and we did 🤩 11 was the magic number yesterday as our 11th hub got underway at St Martin’s Parish Centre in Knebworth, attended by 11 community members! They all took part in a seated exercise class, followed by tea and cake, a quiz and lots of laughter. The expansion of our Wellbeing Hubs is crucial in reducing loneliness and social isolation in our local community. They also help us identify more people who would be suitable for our care and providing them with an avenue into our services should they need them. Our plan was to have 12 weekly hubs up and running by the end of 2024 - based on the success of the first Knebworth session and knowing it will grow over the coming weeks, we are confident we will exceed this aim. If you know someone who would benefit from attending our a Wellbeing Hub, please visit https://lnkd.in/eSZ-SyBv for a list of times and locations🔗 Could you give up three hours a week to help run a Wellbeing Hub?
