The Organisational Science of Neurodiversity: Evidence-based solutions for individuals, teams and professionals.

About us

Genius Within CIC are working towards a future where all neurodivergent adults will be able to maximise their potential and work to their strengths; where employers support their neurodiverse teams to thrive. It is our mission to ensure ND people with problems at work or in custody receive the diagnosis, coaching and support that they need. We have created the Genius Finder psychometric assessment tool to help employers provide reasonable adjustments and useful strategies to all of their employees without the need for diagnosis gate-keeping. We provide e-Learning, assessments, coaching, awareness training and In work support alongside social inclusion work and services for young people. Jacqui Wallis leads Genius Within as our CEO, as a proud dyslexic she is motivated to spread the message of neuro-inclusion. Our Founder Dr Nancy Doyle (a proud ADHD-er) is the founding member of a British Psychological Society Working Group, providing guidance to other Psychologists in the field. Nancy wrote a definitive guide to neurodiversity at work for the British Psychological Society and has contributed to many other publications and expert reference groups with organisations such as ACAS, ERSA and the DWP. Nancy’s research work in evaluating coaching and demonstrating a tangible impact from managers’ perspectives was commended by the British Psychological society, in their 2013 annual Occupational Psychology Awards.

After 7 years of campaigning, I am pleased to see that the Office for Equality and Opportunity has launched the consultation paper on Ethnicity Pay Gap and Disability Pay Gap Mandatory reporting. This is a great first step that has taken a long time to get to. The importance of engaging in the consultation cannot be overstated, there are an enormous amount of individuals out there not being paid fairly. When I started the Campaign in 2018 there was an Ethnicity Pay Gap of £3.2 Billion in the UK. I cannot speak on the Disability Pay Gap, but I can only assume it is equally shocking. To those of you who have supported the Campaign, thank you for taking the journey with me. We can now say we are at the start of real change, let's support the government to achieve its goals of making the Ethnicity Pay Gap and Disability Pay Gap mandatory to report. Together we can make change. • 🎉To celebrate our community this #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek, Genius Within sister company Blooming Genius have been giving out grants to people and organisations that are making life better for #Neurodivergent young people. We THOUGHT we were done, but then we found one more! Daniella Wain is a neurodivergent psychology research student focused on keeping neurodivergent well-being at the centre of her work. "We are going into a school to explore how we can create enabling environments for neurodivergent young people in school. It is a participatory project, so the neurodivergent voice is at the centre. I hope to have a wide impact in promoting neurodivergent wellbeing through research." With this and her other upcoming projects we are so happy to contribute to ND led research and resource creation! #NCW2025 #Neurodiversity #Research #CommunityInterest

  • 🎉To celebrate our community this #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek, Genius Within sister company Blooming Genius will be giving out four grants to people and organisations that are making life better for #Neurodivergent young people.🎉 Our final grant of the week goes to Dan Harris from Neurodiversity in Business (NiB) - the Neurodiversity Charityand Marissa Webb from THE ORCHID PRACTICE LTD and their campaign to fund an AAC devices. They said... Dan: "Just as 'non-hearers' are routinely provided hearing aids, we need to ensure that non-speaking children have these devices routinely funded and supported. We are shocked that AAC devices often are not accessible to all families who need them. Although funding is sometimes available through the NHS, navigating the process can be daunting, leading to delays or missed opportunities during critical developmental years." Marissa: As a passionate communicator and advocate for children, this is a cause that is close to my heart! Our goal is to raise £55,000 to provide 100 Talkers to families who would not be able to afford one otherwise." • Read Dr Doyle's thoughts on the #PathwaysToWork Green Paper launched yesterday. "The disability community has been blamed and under attack for a long time now, we are weary. So before we give in to despair, I’ve outlined four takeaway wins which I think the we can get behind, which focus on support in work and into work." #AccessToWork #Employability #Disability #Neurodiversity #WorkplaceInclusion

Okay so my side note take on the #PathwaysToWork Green Paper launched today is that we have everything to play for in terms of workplace accessibility. The devil is in the detail. 👍 £5Billion savings is not £5Billions of cuts to existing services. It represents an aspirational figure for the future - 2029 - by which point disability benefits will have mushroomed >50% of what they are now if we do nothing at all. This is a travesty for disabled people AND the nation at large. Work brings dignity and independence for many. 👍 Some of the directions - Right to Try and support for SMEs to make inclusive design adaptations rather than only offering support to individuals to try and cope with exclusive design standards - are what we have been asking for since forever. 👍 Consultation is happening, our voices will be heard if we share them, and the consultation process is accessible with multiple communications methods open. Everything is still to play for, so let's get sharing evidence around what works. We have a LOT of evidence and expertise. Businesses, charities, advocacy groups, you have a few months to pull this together, so get cracking! There are some significant concerns about support for independent living payments and these need to be addressed, and many charities are speaking up about this. But looking at workplace support specifically and support into work, there is a lot to work with in there. Link below to my article, which contains multiple links including Employment Related Services Association (ERSA), Prof. Almuth McDowall's report for Acas and British Standards Institute BSI-KSA.

  • 🎉To celebrate our community this #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek, Genius Within sister company Blooming Genius will be giving out four grants to people and organisations that are making life better for #Neurodivergent young people.🎉 📢Today we have Autistic Inclusive Meets. They said: "We have a project starting up, a twice monthly boxing session for home educated children at our AIM Thursday group which, we will be paying the coach £30 per session and it would be coming straight out of our donations as we are unfunded. The £500 would cover 6 months of it which is amazing!" We think boxing sounds like an amazing sensory seeking joy! 🥊 #NCW2025 #CommunityInterest #Neurodiversity #PayItForward

"Neurodiversity inclusion needs to be a cultural change in an organisation, a way of managing performance and talent progression which focuses on strengths and removing unnecessary barriers." - Dr Nancy Doyle, Genius Within Founder. As companies return to office work, it's crucial not to lose progress on disability inclusion. Remote and hybrid work aren't just trends, they enable disabled and neurodivergent people to access jobs previously out of reach. Our Directory Member Genius Within CIC knows firsthand how remote work transforms accessibility. Benefits for employers: - Expands the talent pool to include disabled people, parents, and carers. - Reduces office distractions, boosting focus and punctuality. - Saves money on office space. Tips for employees: - Take regular screen/movement breaks. - Put work away at the end of the day to maintain boundaries. - Set working hours and use delayed send for after-hours communication. Remote work is a reasonable adjustment and a key step toward greater inclusion. Embracing it means embracing equity. For more information or organisational support, Genius Within offers advisory services and its Genius Finder, an online platform that enables individuals and organisations to understand their unique skills, challenges, and potential—and, in turn, improve workplace performance. #RemoteWork #HybridWork #DisabilityInclusion #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek
