Genius Within CIC
Professional Training and Coaching
The Organisational Science of Neurodiversity: Evidence-based solutions for individuals, teams and professionals.
About us
Genius Within CIC are working towards a future where all neurodivergent adults will be able to maximise their potential and work to their strengths; where employers support their neurodiverse teams to thrive. It is our mission to ensure ND people with problems at work or in custody receive the diagnosis, coaching and support that they need. We have created the Genius Finder psychometric assessment tool to help employers provide reasonable adjustments and useful strategies to all of their employees without the need for diagnosis gate-keeping. We provide e-Learning, assessments, coaching, awareness training and In work support alongside social inclusion work and services for young people. Jacqui Wallis leads Genius Within as our CEO, as a proud dyslexic she is motivated to spread the message of neuro-inclusion. Our Founder Dr Nancy Doyle (a proud ADHD-er) is the founding member of a British Psychological Society Working Group, providing guidance to other Psychologists in the field. Nancy wrote a definitive guide to neurodiversity at work for the British Psychological Society and has contributed to many other publications and expert reference groups with organisations such as ACAS, ERSA and the DWP. Nancy’s research work in evaluating coaching and demonstrating a tangible impact from managers’ perspectives was commended by the British Psychological society, in their 2013 annual Occupational Psychology Awards.

Have you tried the Genius Finder yet?
Precision in psychometric design is at the heart of the Genius Finder, it is grounded in scientific principles, ensuring reliability, consistency and validity. As a majority #Neurodivergent organisation we know what it's like when a question de-rails your thinking by being inaccurate, confusing, or not providing neccessary context. It’s all about designing questions that truly measure what they’re meant to! Great post Magnus Hedemark There is no one “correct” communication style.
Communication is a two way street. Autistic people do not have a ‘communication deficit’. In fact, Autistic people have been shown to communicate very effectively between themselves. The issues arise when Autistic and non-autistic people communicate. Which means it’s everyone’s responsibility to meet half way in communication. Image Description: patterned background with a text box that reads: “Autistic Person: Spends excessive energy 'translating' their Autistic communication to accommodate non-Autistics, Scripts conversations to try and avoid communication issues, Develops social anxiety from consistently being told they are doing it wrong. Untrained Managers: You have a collaboration issue. You need to work on how you communicate with your colleagues.”

Our very own Paul Stevenson wrote a blog for #ADHD awareness month about the benefits he has experienced from being diagnosed later in life. Check it out here 👇 https://bit.ly/3A4Za07 #ADHDawarenessMonth #Neurodiversity #Neurodivergent #DEIA #EDI #LateDiagnosis

It's been a pretty tough year to be an ADHD-er! The media (and some politicians) have been suggesting that ADHD-ers are fakers who pursue a diagnosis for the medication, while at the same time an international shortage of ADHD medication and extremely long waiting lists have left so many without any help at all. It is accurate to say that ADHD is not ALWAYS a disability, but how disabling it is can change at any time based on a multitude of factors. For example your age, job, family life, and health can all change in a way that suddenly alters the skills you need to cope. Some examples of this are: 1. Parenting or caring responsibilities resulting in a loss of free time for activities that help you regulate e.g. exercise 2. Changing from a high stimulation to a low stimulation environment, or vice versa, meaning that you need to find new and healthy ways to engage, or calm your brain and nervous system. 3. Getting a promotion that increases your workload and moves you away from tasks you know well. 4. Menopause or illness lowering your social battery and energy levels which in turn affects relationships and time to do the things you love. 5. Task paralysis, the inability to complete tasks that you actually want and need to do. We would all be wise to remember that you can't know if someone is disabled based only on what you see. You never know what people are dealing with or how desperate they might feel. Consider this before you dismiss another persons lived experience. #ADHDAwarenessMonth #ExecutiveFunction #TaskParalysis #Anxiety #DisabilityInclusion #SocialBattery #SPD #DEI
