5 years ago, Girls in Marketing was just an idea in Olivia’s brain. Olivia had always been interested in human behaviour and even studied psychology at University, where she found her love for marketing and SEO. The psychology student-to-marketer pipeline is real 🤣 Once she graduated from University, Olivia decided to find a job in SEO but struggled to truly find her tribe within the marketing industry. That’s where the idea of Girls in Marketing developed. Since then, we have developed into a community of 450,000+ marketers whilst helping thousands of marketers through our training opportunities. We have tons of ways that you can get involved, depending on the stage of your career: 💻 The Girls in Marketing Membership 🤝 Brand Sponsorships and Partnerships 👥 Team Training Opportunities 🎙 The Girls in Marketing Podcast When founding Girls in Marketing, Olivia always knew it was important to her to continue to provide accessible resources for all marketers. Our community is always at the heart of everything we do. Now, that’s enough about us. Introduce yourself in the comments, we want to know more about YOU 🙋♀️

Networking for your company vs for yourself 💬 Hands up if you’ve ever attended a networking event for your company and felt completely out of place and out of your depth 🙋♀️ This definitely isn’t the case for everyone, but sometimes attending a networking event for your company can be pretty daunting. Depending on your employer, attending an event on their behalf can make it more difficult to relax and make you feel like you should be having a certain number of conversations to make your attendance worthwhile. On the other hand, attending networking events for yourself can take away some of the pressure of having conversations and allow you to relax more and enjoy the event, connecting with less people but having more meaningful conversations. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with networking for work but try to remember to relax and enjoy it too! Drop the expectations and you’ll probably find you gain so much more from the experience! What are your thoughts on networking? Do you love it or avoid it? #Networking #GirlsinMarketing

It’s never too late to change direction 📣 When looking for a new role it’s easy to overlook the transferrable skills we already have if we don't meet every point in the job description. If you're hiring for a role, keep an open mind when considering candidates. It’s not always about what the person has done before but what they have the potential to do in future. Even if someone hasn’t worked directly in the role you’re hiring for, they may have a lot of strong and unique skills and experience to bring to the role and could be just the right person for the job! We’d love to know, what’s most important to you when hiring for a marketing role? #MarketingJobs #TransferrableSkills
