This past Friday, Edinburgh’s storied streets took on a chilling allure as over 200 Townhouse members and their guests stepped into a Halloween soirée like no other. For one night only, Gleneagles Townhouse transformed into a 1920s House of Horrors, where ghostly glamour met dark decadence for an evening steeped in mystery and macabre elegance! #halloween #happyhalloween

We’re proud to share that both Gleneagles and Gleneagles Townhouse have achieved Green Tourism gold accreditation in recognition of our approach to sustainability. Gleneagles was the first hotel in the UK to gain gold status back in 2008 when the certification was introduced, and now, over 15 years later, our two properties are the first UK hotels to achieve gold under the robust new Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) Criteria, which serve as the benchmark for sustainability standards in the industry worldwide. Retaining our gold status is evidence of the journey of improvement we’ve been on and the work we’re continuing to do to play our part in tackling the global climate emergency. We’ve a long road ahead in achieving our sustainability targets, but this award encourages us to keep working hard as a team to establish new ways of minimising our impact and creating a positive difference for our team, guests, the local community and future generations.

Evaluated by MICHELIN Guide Inspectors, this recognition is part of The MICHELIN Guide’s recent effort to showcase not only outstanding dining but also the world’s most exceptional hotels, offering travellers a truly unique experience. We are also delighted to see Gleneagles Townhouse receive its first MICHELIN Key just two years into operation. #LoveGlen #TheGloriousPlayground

As young people around Scotland await their exam results today, we wanted to share our support in championing that there is #NoWrongPath to success. Our own team of talented people are testament to that! We’ve got colleagues in senior leadership who joined the workplace straight from school, completed apprenticeships or dropped out of university to pursue a different path; we’ve seen team members completely change their careers; step up the ladder, down the ladder, then up again to suit personal commitments; and we’ve seen hundreds of colleagues who’ve started as kitchen porters and become executive chefs; engineers who’ve become housekeepers; housekeepers who’ve become general managers; chefs who’ve become gardeners; teachers who’ve become marketers; beauticians who’ve become accountants; lawyers who now work in People & Culture, and everything in between. So, to all those nervously opening their results today (as well as their parents), we wish you all the best in achieving the grades you’re hoping for, but to those who feel disappointed or anxious, remember, the road to success is not a race and it’s not a straight track. There are so many different routes to a successful and fulfilling career! At Gleneagles, we offer a range of early career programmes to support young people and school leavers to progress and succeed. From work experience and internships, to scholarships and apprenticeships, our training and development programmes cover a breadth of disciplines, including hotel operations, food & beverage, culinary and greenkeeping. A great alternative to higher education for those who flourish in the more structured setting of the workplace, they’re the perfect opportunity to earn while you learn and build skills and confidence under the care of a supportive team. Not sure of your next steps? Reach out to our friendly Talent Attraction team for an informal chat about opportunities at Gleneagles at careers@gleneagles.com

We’re thrilled to let you know that Gleneagles was crowned Employer of the Year last night at the 2024 Cateys – an annual awards ceremony which recognises the finest operators and businesses in hospitality. Being named Best Employer marks the culmination of a five-year transformation of our employee experience. While Gleneagles has always focused on outstanding guest experiences, in 2019 we really began turning our attention to our team, setting out ambitious plans to demonstrate to everyone who works here that they are equally as important as our guests. Since then, we’ve been overhauling the people experience, responding to the evolving needs of candidates and building a culture of care that underpins every aspect of working life at Gleneagles. This one is dedicated to every single member of our team, whose commitment and efforts are what makes Gleneagles such a special place.

100 Years of The Glorious Playground 🥂 100 years ago on this day, the 7th June 1924, we opened the doors to The Gleneagles Hotel. Our magnificent countryside estate in the heart of Scotland was described as a “Riviera in the Highlands” and the media hailed it “the eighth wonder of the world”. Cocktails poured from taps; lively dancing in our ballroom was broadcast across the nation on BBC radio; glamorous guests raced each other by land, air and sea to get here first; and princes, playwrights and poets spent entire summers on our croquet lawn in a haze of Champagne. Going into 2024 as a multi-award winning estate, we reflect on our history, spanning high times and wartimes and look towards the next 100 years alongside our inaugural Edinburgh home, Gleneagles Townhouse. Gleneagles beats with a warm heart and is a home from home – a welcoming place where our people and guests feel they truly belong. On our 100th Anniversary we thank everyone who has been part of our story so far, and our story still to come. #LoveGlen #TheGloriousPlayground

Last week we hosted our Advisory Board members from across the pond to experience the best of Glen, from countryside flair to life on the square! An action packed few days were enjoyed from meeting our Highland Cows, to handling our birds of prey, casting lines on Laich Loch and learning the ropes with our Gun Dogs. Next stop took our guests beyond the Ochil Hills for a tour of The Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith, followed by sundowners and sweeping city views in our city home, Gleneagles Townhouse ahead of an intimate dinner in The Spence.
