Direct Lincolnshire-London Rail Services! 🚆 Grand Central have announced plans to submit an application for new direct rail services connecting Cleethorpes, Grimsby, Habrough, and Scunthorpe to London in 2026. Why this matters: 🟠 It's about bringing direct London connections back to under-served areas. ⚫ We're looking at a potential £30.1 million annual economic boost for the region. 🟠 This means more capacity: 4 daily return services for customers. ⚫ We're doing this with strong community and business backing. We believe this initiative will significantly enhance connectivity and drive regional growth.

Grand Central is an open-access passenger train operator with a reputation for industry-leading customer satisfaction. We connect communities in the North East and Yorkshire with London. Grand Central is part of the Arriva group, an international transport company. Grand Central reaches the parts of the country other services don’t – directly linking towns and cities in Yorkshire and the North East with London. Grand Central’s first route was launched in December 2007 and links London Kings Cross with York, Thirsk, Northallerton, Eaglescliffe, Hartlepool and Sunderland. In 2010, a second service began, calling at Bradford, Low Moor Halifax, Brighouse, Mirfield, Wakefield, Pontefract, Doncaster and London Kings Cross. We work hard to attract and retain customer-focused staff for our trains and station and office-based roles . Grand Central Community Fund deadline extended We’ve extended the deadline for our Grand Central Community Fund and interested parties now have until 17 March to apply. We have grants available from £100 to £5000 to support community projects across our network. A quick reminder of what we’re looking for We’re looking to support projects that will improve the local communities in the areas of environmental improvement, education, sustainable travel, social inclusion and accessibility. Projects must be within five miles of the Grand Central rail network, help improve the local community and be completed within 2025. Grand Central today submitted an application to the Office of Rail and Road and began consultations within the rail industry to introduce a major expansion of services for passengers travelling along existing routes. Key highlights of the proposed expansion include: ✔ Up to two additional daily return services between London and West Yorkshire. ✔ New direct services: Providing Seaham with a direct link to the capital. ✔ Additional stops at Peterborough following the success of the Jan 2024 launch. ✔ Enhanced North East Route: New early morning departure from York to London and a late-evening return service. #GrandCentral #RailExpansion
