This week’s highlights include: 👩💼 Chief executive Henrietta Brealey: 📅 Chaired our final Good Business Forum of 2024, focusing on peer learning and knowledge sharing around ESG. A big thank you to guest speakers Shilpi Akbar, David Alcock, and Nathan Wallis, and to Anthony Collins Solicitors for hosting. 🍽️ Joined Arron Wincott and the HdV Ambassadors to sample Chamber Patron Hotel Du Vin's Autumn/Winter menu. Highlights included steak tartare, chicken liver parfait, and gnocchi à la parisienne, all perfectly paired with exquisite wines. 🎤 Participated in a panel at the Help to Grow: Management Course regional alumni event, alongside Ian Harrison, Damini Sharma, and Monder Ram, exploring the barriers and opportunities for SME growth and how to access support. 💼 Director of external affairs Raj Kandola: 🗣️ Chaired a roundtable on the Government's Make Work Pay programme with Chamber members at South & City College Birmingham. The event also featured sessions from Caleb Deeks, Department for Business and Trade, and Jane Gratton, British Chambers of Commerce. 🎓 Spoke at the Eurojuris International Congress at the University of Birmingham, highlighting the work of the Business Commission West Midlands. 💬 Henrietta and Raj also met with Andrew Mitchell, Shadow Foreign Secretary, to discuss BCWM findings and strategies for supporting economic growth in local businesses. 🎙️ Tribera | Creative Content Agency co-founders Francesca (Fran) Nolan and André Picart joined us to record an upcoming episode of the CEO Stories podcast. 📢 The latest episode of CEO Stories was also released this week, featuring King Edward VI Foundation Birmingham chief executive Jodh Dhesi (link in the comments). 🏆 New business managers Jaye Rattu and Mandhir Deol exhibited at the Business Growth West Midlands Anniversary Celebration Event at Millennium Point Birmingham. 🤝 The Sutton, Lichfield & Tamworth, and Cannock Chambers held a joint networking at The Hub at St Mary's’s, while a premier members networking breakfast was held at Weightmans. 🎟️ The Premier membership, one of the tiers of membership the Chamber offers, includes exclusive events and strategic introductions to other members each quarter.
