It's always a fantastic night at the annual National Rail Awards, and this year was even better as we took home a win in the Environmental Excellence category for our work with Energy Garden 🏆 . There were so many brilliant projects and individuals to celebrate that it's no wonder the judging panel had a hard time deciding the winners. We were proud to also be named Highly Commended in the following categories: 💫 Large Station of the Year - Gatwick 💫 Customer Service Excellence - Aira Explorer App (in partnership with Thomas Pocklington Trust and Sight Loss Councils Congratulations to everyone shortlisted and those crowned winners. See you next year! RAIL Magazine #NationalRailAwards #NRAs

Today is World Suicide Prevention Day - an opportunity to start conversations and raise awareness about this important subject. Our colleagues receive vital suicide prevention training to equip them with necessary tools to handle sensitive, and sometimes life-threatening, situations. Wendy Davidson, who works for Great Northern, has been sharing her story with media, discussing what it's like to make a lifesaving intervention on the railway. You can read it here: https://lnkd.in/eKWfwmyC If you, or someone you know, is struggling, Samaritans can be contacted day or night, 365 days a year. Every 30 minutes someone risks their life trespassing on the railway tracks. We joined Network Rail to highlight the dangers on today's BBC 1 Morning Live show. Our Southern Rail driver, Jaymi, describes the impact that near misses, injury and death has on everyone involved - not just for the individual but the family, friends and everyone involved on the railway. If this makes even one person think twice about taking a short cut or dashing through a level crossing barrier as it comes down, then it will have been worth it. https://lnkd.in/eDtjuJEw

You told us in our public consultation on our Southern Railway West Coastway timetable that you wanted faster trains which were more competitive against the challenging road network for east-west travel. Now, with our better timetable now in place, we’re testing just how much smoother travel can be between two popular destinations along the route - Brighton City Centre and Chichester Basin in our "West Coastway Dash." In the below video, marking the final part of our social media campaign celebrating 'Better Faster Smoother connections across the West Coastway' (which has racked up over three million views on TikTok alone), join familiar faces Matt "aka *the* voice of Southern" and Tom "aka @vaguely.mundane" onboard our train up against Southern social team’s Steph and Joana taking the car along the A27, and Shaheena via the bus in this epic race. Are you backing #TeamTrain? Find out who came out on top in this seaside sprint... See you onboard! 📲https://lnkd.in/gABD5aKx

Have you spotted 'Words of Pride' when travelling on our network? ❤️ A series of quotes have been unveiled at selected train stations from London to Brighton to celebrate the countdown to Brighton Pride CIC. We partnered with writers, performers, and artists from the LGBTQ+ community to share what Pride means to them, highlighting why Pride exists and what people are still fighting for. If you're planning on heading to the event by train, please check travel advice on our websites. An enhanced train service will be in place but services will be very busy.
