    Do employers hold the reins in today’s job market? Our recent polls of over 8,500 people reveal a significant shift in the hiring power dynamics. The worldwide job market has undergone a significant transformation. In the wake of the pandemic, organisations were eager to attract talent, often going above and beyond to secure it. Today, the current economic climate has shifted the balance of power back to employers. Our poll results from various seniority levels echo this trend: ⇨ 70% believe employers have the upper hand. ⇨ 16% see a balanced power dynamic. ⇨ Only 13% think candidates hold more power. However, 1% of poll commenters shared a nuanced take, pointing to other significant forces in specific scenarios… 💬 It would depend on the country's unemployment rate or economic situation. 💬 In certain industries - like Tech - the candidate rules. The employers might be in the driving seat, but their people start the vehicle. 💬 If you are a highly skilled and experienced candidate, there are probably multiple companies waiting with an offer.     A few weeks ago, I celebrated one year of being CEO of Hays. What better way to celebrate than spending the week with colleagues from across the globe at our Senior Leaders Conference in London. This gave us an opportunity to explore our strategy, collaborate, have open and honest conversations, and a chance to reconnect with old colleagues as well as make new connections.    The past year has been both challenging and incredibly rewarding. We have dealt with tough economic conditions and low confidence among clients and candidates, but we have navigated these challenges together. Having been with this amazing company for over 25 years, the past year has given me a deeper appreciation for our resilience and innovation, both as individuals and as a business.   During the past 12 months, I have been fortunate to visit many of our key countries and engage with colleagues at all levels. These interactions have given me valuable insights and a greater understanding of our business.   Of course, there are lessons that I can take from the past year as well. It’s important to reflect and to ask yourself, ‘What could I have done better?’ For example, I’m learning to delegate more!   I am immensely proud of what we have achieved over the past 12 months, from launching our new strategy to kicking off our tech transformation programme – I am excited for the future.   Thank you to everyone at Hays for your dedication and hard work, and for making my first year as CEO so enjoyable!   #WorkingForYourTomorrow #Leadership #Anniversary #Teamwork #Gratitude
