What a pleasure and privilege to host the extraordinary Liz McConaghy last week at our HQ 💥 AKA 'Chinook Crew Chick', Liz told our rapt audience about her astounding career flying with the #RAF #Chinook Fleet. The youngest aircrew member to deploy to Iraq and the only female crew on the Chinook wing for four years, Liz completed two deployments to Iraq and ten to Afghanistan, including flying ambulance. After leaving the service, Liz’s struggles with her mental health following her wartime experiences took her to the brink. Her motivational talk inspired everyone at the event. Ten teams battled it out in The Hayward and Green charity cricket tournament last Friday at the picturesque Preston Nomads Cricket ground in Fulking, nestled under The South Downs. It was a wonderful event, well organised and supported by different teams from the aviation industry. We were bowled over by the support and the phenomenal amount of just under £20k was raised which will make a significant difference to our charity, enabling us to provide some wonderful social activities and trips out for children and adults with learning disabilities and complex needs, as well as valuable respite for their families. Heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Hayward and Green, Preston Nomads and to all those who helped with the organisation, competed and supported, as well as the generous donations of auction and raffle prizes. 🏏 Our HQ cricket team were bowled over by the fantastic atmosphere at the Hayward & Green Aviation Ltd Charity Cricket Tournament on Friday. Held at the picturesque Preston Nomads Cricket Club, eight teams from the world of aviation battled it out to win the coveted H&G Charity Shield. Proceeds from the tournament went to the Kangaroos charity, which supports people with severe learning disabilities. The AJW Group team battled hard, narrowly missing out on a place in the semi final, but the main event was the fundraising, which totalled over £10,000! 🏏Last Friday, the newly formed Muirhead Avionics cricket team made their debut in a one-day charity event, competing alongside teams from some of the UK's largest aviation organisations. The tournament saw Muirhead play two matches (5 overs each). Though we didn't take home the trophy, our debutants impressed with a couple of sixes, a run out, and wickets taken by two team members. Overall, it was a fantastic way to kick off the summer, and Muirhead was proud to support the great work that Kangaroos Sussex does for the community. 🏏 Thank you to Hayward & Green Aviation Ltd for the superb hospitality!
