We had an amazing time launching our Kanga Business Club on October 10th at Mid Sussex Golf Club, with 30 local businesses joining us for an evening of networking, prosecco, and inspiring talks. Our Chair of Trustees, Tom Acott, welcomed everyone, and CEO Emma Hunt shared how vital business support is for Kangaroos to connect us to the community in which we operate and provide sustainability for our important service. We introduced our membership scheme, where businesses can support us monthly, ensuring sustainability and growth. Guest speaker Nanette Kilbryde from Hentons Accounting shared: “I’m proud to support a local charity that makes a visible and vital difference in the community,” adding that volunteering has boosted her confidence and given her a sense of achievement. Last week Searls Land held their annual charity golf day in support of Kangaroos, this year at the beautiful setting Mid Sussex Golf Club 19 teams from the land and property industry took part, and we were blessed with some warm September sunshine. Lee, Mike and bar staff helped put the FUN into fundraising by dressing up as Kangaroos and a few of our KangaTrail Kangaroos were displayed on the course. The event raised nearly £8k and we couldn’t have done it without all the support of Tim Searl, Ellie and staff from Searls Land and all the 76 players who took part. Congratulations to team winners, Riverdale Developments with Hestia Homes a close second. Special thanks to Gibson Blanc Photography for capturing the day with some amazing shots, Aquapax for supplying all the water and local sponsor Hurst Life. Many thanks also to Nanette Kilbryde from Hentons Accounting and Celia Hibbert-Nelson who did a sterling job selling raffle tickets and to our two wonderful Kangaroos members and young ambassadors, Annie and Katie who gave out prizes with the biggest of smiles. We are incredibly fortunate to have the unwavering support of some amazing local businesses that go the extra mile (literally!) to raise vital funds for Kangaroos. A couple of weeks ago, Matt Stephens from Mortgage Heroes Bernie Knight from #regencygrovecommunications and Russ Ellis from Moversaurus Removals took on the South Downs Ultra Challenge, trekking from Eastbourne to Arundel in an epic 100km journey! Thanks to their dedication, they’ve raised over £4,000 to support our work at Kangaroos, helping us provide wonderful activities for children and adults with learning disabilities. Matt conquered the full 100km within 24 hours with no sleep! Bernie and Russ also showed incredible determination, pushing through blisters and sickness to go as far as they could. 🏌️ We had a terrific day at our annual golf event at the Mid Sussex Golf Club in aid of the magnificent Kangaroos Sussex charity. As ever, the event attracted the cream of top golfing talent from across the South of England’s land development fraternity, with 76 players representing 19 teams teeing off in the late summer sunshine. The worthy winners were Riverdale Developments with Hestia Homes Limited running them close all day but settling for second place. The day as a whole raised the tremendous sum of £7,935 for Kangaroos, with raffle ticket sales alone contributing £1,000 to the total. It’s not too late to donate! Lovely day out volunteering with Kangaroos Sussex yesterday. The weather was perfect and the cause is more than well worth it. Kangaroos provide year-round clubs and trips for people with learning disabilities and additional needs, helping to ensure that they can exercise their right to leisure, play and recreational activity in a safe and supported environment.
