Renata Watts FRSA is what you would call the ultimate advocate. We chatted with the Co-Director of Special Needs Jungle Ltd about how, with the help of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, she persuaded Great Ormond Street Hospital to create the role of a SWAN nurse specialist, supporting children with undiagnosed conditions. "These days, people talk about undiagnosed children," says Renata. "They talk about SWAN. It’s not just, ‘well, you’re just waiting for a diagnosis’. It’s, ‘you are a child in your own right, and you have a family and you have needs’. So I’m super proud of that." Read more from Renata in her full interview below 💚

Heba here 👋 Your same care companion, with a new name. Here’s why it’s a better fit for our community 💚 Over the coming weeks we’ll be transitioning from Hibi to Heba. We’re doing this for a couple of reasons: Firstly, when initially naming our app, we gave a nod to the Greek goddess of youth, Hebe (pronounced “Hibi”). We were focussed on helping families caring for children with developmental differences and, to our absolute delight, our app is doing just this – and more. Our world-wide community isn’t only caring for kids. They’re caring for adults, elderly parents – even themselves. You’ve told us that our tools, resources and support are helping in all kinds of care scenarios, so we’ve changed our name to better reflect our broadening member base. The second reason for making the switch was that we ran into some trademarking issues and didn’t want to step on any toes. With our app usage growing rapidly across global markets, it was time for a refresh. Why did we go with Heba? Well, for starters, it won the most votes from our users. Practically speaking, swapping out just two letters makes for a fairly straight-forward transition, too. But we really loved this word for what it signified. Originating from Arabic, Heba means “gift”. Our goal is to give caregivers and their families more time. More calm. More control. And we’re determined to keep on delivering this, better and better for our community, as Heba. We hope you like our new name as much as we do and we’re grateful, as always, that you’re with us for the ride 💚 🙌 💚

💚 Hibi x Bupa 💙 We’ve got some big news. Hibi is thrilled to be part of Bupa’s eco-Disruptive: Healthy Societies innovation programme. This initiative connects Bupa employees with start-ups working to find solutions for those who face barriers to accessing quality healthcare. This is what drives us at Hibi and it’s why we designed a care companion app to help people and families easily manage, coordinate and navigate their care needs. We’re very proud of the work we’re doing and are excited to be joining Bupa’s eco-Disruptive programme. Did you know that over 90% of family caregivers feel unsupported? 😲 Every day at Hibi, we’re speaking to and supporting caregivers – whether they be parents, children, siblings or professionals. And 92% report feeling unsupported in their caregiving role. Unpaid caregivers are the backbone of our health and social care system and, as numbers like this tell us, they urgently need help. This is why we built Hibi – and why we're proud to hear that over 85% of our users feel supported by our care-management tools and 24/7 care guidance. If you or your organisation supports SEND families and / or unpaid caregivers, drop us a note on hello@hibi.health. We'd love to explore how Hibi can help your community 💚
