    Challenge accepted and FAILED! Failure is not a word we use often here at Highview Group but if your silly enough to take on Dan Costen in the hash brown challenge it’s only ending one way! Matthew Tumbridge was so confident when he said he could do 25 its a little embarrassing that he tapped out at 13 to be honest! DC still holds the record at 18 if anyone want to challenge and record their attempts Don’t worry we provide health care at Highview to combat the unhealthy eating habits 😂

    World Mental Health Day! Highview Group are committed to improving mental health impacts at work! As most will be aware the construction industry is one of the most stressful to be in with around half of all work related ill health being due to stress, depression and anxiety. Along with our private health benefits we have appointed Amy Murray counselling on a retainer basis, initially providing up to 3 counselling session for every member of staff should they wish to attend. All sessions will be completely confidential and centre on the wellbeing of our staff. Terry Lake added: " I feel the stigma around hiding your feelings now is well and truly gone in most of the industry now and people acknowledge that "its ok not to be ok", I for one have found an outlet for my emotions and would encourage anyone to seek some sort of consult, professional or not. we look forward to welcoming Amy to the Highview team on a consultancy basis and hope our staff feel the benifits"

    Today we started our cultural improvement journey with the help of Chris Gault. We have invested in 3 cohorts of staff to embark on this 3 part culture workshop course to improve our employees work experience. To reinforce or even improve on the values we hold dear with the input of the entire team.

    This morning, I had the privilege of embarking on the maiden voyage of a 3-part Culture workshop with the 1st cohort within Highview Group. This is a progressive organisation, committed to investing in their people and nurturing them to all be high performers within their individual roles while contributing to the whole organisation’s goals. It was an honour to guide this group through a discovery of values and beliefs and to help them come together, in what can be an uncomfortable exploration process. I applaud each and every one of you for coming with an open and willing mindset to take part, get involved in the conversation and grow together. I’m excited for the next few groups and the future sessions over the coming weeks and months as we shake up the preconceptions of an industry, and look to create an environment of psychological safety, where we can all accept and celebrate change and progress.     A Lesson learnt for young Billy Stewart, don’t jokingly slap your commercial director whilst in a golf trip 😂! Conor Sullivan has been plotting his revenge for a while and finally got it yesterday! A real team effort from what we can make out and very well taken by Bill. We can confirm than all bedding used will be recycled. A very funny moment for all and a team clean up operation! In typical Conor fashion he felt so guilty he helped clear up 😂 As Billy quotes: “the jokes on them as the car is the cleanest it’s been 👏🏻”

    Highview Group apprentice gets kitted out curtosy of JJ Roofing Supplies! We would like to thank JJ’s for their incredible support in providing our apprentice Leo with a suite of tools. Leo has been with us now since February and is progressing really well in his training programme, so we agreed to purchase the tools he needed. When we asked JJ’s and informed them it was for our apprentice they offered them FOC which was just a fantastic gesture. Juniper Training Ltd have created an excellent programme for Leo’s development and we hope he will be with us for many many years to come. Faye Lake

    Highview Group shortlisted for Investors in People awards! We have some exciting news to share with you all, and that is to confirm that Highview Group has been shortlisted for The “Best Newcomer Award” (up to 250 employees) in The Investors in People Awards 2024. Faye Lake added: “when I started the IVP journey, I will be honest in that I was shocked and upset that our companies values were not cascading down from our most senior management to our staff. Our employees are our life support and without them we would be no more! Terry Lake and I started the journey at Highview 8 years ago today, we started with the vision of bringing back some strong moral values we learnt from a great leader we both worked for previously! We wanted to create a better environment for our staff to work and learn in, away from the corporate monsters. In honesty our journey started great, we had a real family feel about our business, but as we grew so did those pesky growing pains! Some poor structural decisions were made which led to discourse with the business, then IVP gave our staff a platform to provide anonymous, brutally honest feedback, opening our eyes to the changes we needed to make to bring our vision back to life. When we talk about staff happiness here at Highview it’s not a sound bite or a tick box, it’s something we are passionate about. So after listening to our team we implemented some radical and much needed change to the business, Terry took back over the reigns, he gave his SMT autonomy to perform their role freely and manage their staff with confidence. The transformation I have witnessed to our business in the last 9 months has been incredible! We have gone from having staff that did not feel valued at work to a team that understand and embrace our vision of a family business! One that looks after each other and works together, one that provides a work life balance with a 4.5 day week, one that assists with health concerns through fast tracked private health care for all staff, one that offers career progression, one that offers recreational restbite via O2 and Football hospitality tickets, one that nurtures their staff rather than apportioning blame and rewards staff for their hard work. I won’t pretend it’s perfect we still have a way to go, tweeks here and there will get us ever closer to the dream! That every member of staff enjoys coming to work every day, despite the challenges the construction industry throws at you daily. Thank you so much to Investors in People for assisting us on this journey and for shortlisting us for this amazing award, I would like to extend a special thanks to our Practitioner @Gary Inman for bringing the concerns raised by our staff to life and provided us platform to build from. This really is the highest of recognitions for us as a business and the changes both embraced and implemented by our SMT. I truly hope it demonstrates to our staff that we do and will continue to listen to them.”
