A leading European waste management company is to establish a £35 million solvent recycling facility on Syngenta’s Leeds Road site in Huddersfield. Indaver, which has several waste-to-energy installations in the UK and abroad, could start construction of the plant in 2026 for it to be operational in 2028. The scheme is part of a larger investment plan by Indaver in the UK, amounting to £750 million. Around 16 new jobs could be created in Huddersfield. Head of strategic projects at Syngenta Huddersfield, Anssar Khan, said: “The new facility proposed by Indaver would support Syngenta in achieving its sustainability goals. “The recycling operation reduces waste and lowers carbon emissions, as well as reducing the impact on local transport networks. “This kind of development is well suited to our site vision of a manufacturing campus that can be a real asset to Kirklees, bringing positive economic impact to the area.” Carl Sykes Stefanie Hopkins Abigail Henderson #sustainability #investment #Huddersfield #HuddersfieldHub

Colne Valley Labour MP Paul Davies has reminded the Government about its commitment to invest in the rundown Penistone railway line between Huddersfield and Sheffield. The previous Conservative government announced a £48 million investment in the Penistone Line upgrade in November 2023 and that was confirmed in Labour Chancellor Rachel Reeves’ first Budget in November 2024. Now Mr Davies has asked the Minister for Local Growth, Alex Norris, in Parliament about how the scheme is to move forward. The Colne Valley MP also asked the Minister if he would meet him and other local MPs to discuss progressing the upgrade. #regeneration #investment #Huddersfield #HuddersfieldHub
