Some more fantastic shots of our experienced team on the levers processing arisings to maximise our recycle rate from our projects, this time with a shear attachment on 50t demolition excavator! The majority of demolition arisings can be recycled, with the exception of hazardous materials such as asbestos. This minimises the amount of arisings going to landfill and results in a recycling rate of over 97% from our demolition projects. Having formed a crushed material lay-down area, the team have started work on felling another set of straddle carries in a live dockyard. Following a successful drain down, the carriers will be weakened at various points to allow for the safe, controlled push onto the lay-down area, followed by the arisings being cleared. Incredible footage captured from our works at Bulbeck Car Park in Havant! With no asbestos on-site, the team quickly set about completing the soft-strip of the structure. Ahead of the main superstructure demolition, the pavement was protected and the adjacent toilet block removed, with the scaffold erected around the site. Our 49t excavator then began from the southern elevation progressively working into the building, one bay at a time, pulverising the concrete slabs and beams from the top down. The internal bays of the structure were removed, retaining the external flank walls to enhance the debris screen surrounding the site associated with the monarflex scaffolding being box-tied into the external walls. This aided the reduction of nuisance environmental impacts associated with the demolition works. The machine then began removing the external bays of the structure in conjunction with the scaffold team, reducing the final bays and flank walls in a floor-by-floor process, carefully pulling the masonry infill, into the confines of the site. All works were completed under dust suppression and monitored throughout.
