From 200 metres to 20 metres in under 10 seconds. Today the local skyline of North Nottinghamshire was changed forever as we explosively demolished the chimney at Cottam power station. This was just one of a series of successful explosive events as part of the demolition of the former coal power station.

We'll get right to the point with this one... These limestone and gypsum stores at West Burton won't be around for much longer when we're through with them. Once they've been dismantled and processed for materials, they'll be off for recycling and a new lease of life.

Three years ago today, the team at Brown & Mason B.V. explosively demolished the chimney stack and electrostatic precipitators at Centrale Gelderland in Nijmegen. This was an interesting project for the team as the chimney stack had no internal access, unlike many other chimneys. As a result a lorry-mounted MEWP was utilised to drill charging holes 75m above the ground, to trigger a telescoped collapse of the structure. This method reduces the size of the collapse area and mitigates the high levels of vibration that can be generated by other techniques.

There's nothing like a sunny day on site ☀️ With the sun shining down, our team are hard at work making way for new developments up and down the country, while reclaiming valuable materials to re-enter the circular economy.
