An independent survey highlights consumers evolving expectations and willingness to pay extra for sustainable packaging with over 65s leading the way. A majority of respondents expressed a desire to see more fiber-based materials used in packaging, while half of them want to increase the use of recyclable plastic. However, the survey commissioned by Huhtamaki, also highlighted the need for more transparency, information, and clear instructions regarding recycling, especially when it comes to eating out. We’re thrilled to have been included in TIME Magazine’s World’s Most Sustainable Companies 2024 list. TIME and data firm Statista have created a rigorous methodology with which to measure the world’s most sustainable companies for 2024. “In 2023, we saw good performance on our sustainability ambitions. We took a significant step forward in our renewable electricity consumption to over 41% and achieved a 26% Scope 1 and 2 emission reduction compared to the base year 2019. In addition, we were able to shift our materials KPIs towards the 2030 ambitions and we made operational improvements that resulted in increased waste recycling rates.
